/THOOM!/
A horn blows as the Southern Gate of Paradise opens for our visitors.
" Stand up straight."
" Sorry!"
I was made to straighten my back by Sarah as we waited for the carriages to approach us. They were simple but elegantly designed carriages that seemed to give an abridged version of the history of the Dark Elves in small circles on the side of the carriage. From fighting their white skinned counterparts to leaving their lands to being welcomed by a Demon King to resting in a forest surrounded by giant trees and darkness. And in the middle of all of these circles was a crest bearing the insignia of the Nyx Royal Family. A pair of dark-skinned hands the left had a flame held in its grasp and a scale in the other. From what Charlotte and Delcan had told me after I asked, it was a metaphor for Justice and Judgement apparently. I looked at the both of them as they were standing next to Sarah, Anna and I since it was their parents who were arriving. What I saw was something surprising.
" You don't think they're here because I've been too slow about the business deal, do you?"
Delcan was freaking out... Was signing a deal with Roseland Products really that high up on the list for King Leonard and Queen Crystal? To be fair I wasn't here for around 2 months, so I doubt they should be too upset, right?
" Relax, they know you'll sign a deal soon enough, this is for something else."
" And what could that be?"
To Delcan's question, Charlotte thought to herself for a moment and then with quick movements looked at the carriage that no doubt was carrying her parents, then she looked at me and then she looked down at the ground. Her ears were shaking up and down now, a clear sign that an Elf was feeling some kind of excitement... Did she figure it out? What has her so excited?
/Thump./
" Ow."
" Focus on the carriage, it's impolite to the guests if you're distracted as they arrive."
Anna elbowed me in my other side and made me adjust what I was doing. I swear, they do this every time just to see my reactions. Regardless of the reason, I'm sure they're right, so I waited patiently as the carriage rolled into the gate. Once the carriage and all of the Dark Elf guards along with their horses had crossed the boundary, the gate was closed, and the carriage door was opened. The first person to walk out of the door was King Leonard. Before greeting us, he turned around and offered his hand to his passenger... Or I should say, one of his passengers. A younger woman than Queen Crystal. She had shoulder-length white hair and light-yellow eyes like Delcan. I can't observe her face well from this far away but judging by the smiles on Delcan and Charlotte's faces, I'm assuming it's someone they know. If I had to place a bet, I'd say it's someone related to them. Once the woman had exited the carriage, another new face came after her. This time the hair color had finally changed; pale blue long flowing hair was the first thing I saw.
" Ah!"
" Kikkiikkk..."
Delcan was shocked to see the girl come out of the carriage and Charlotte began to stifle a laugh that was hard to hide. I wondered who this girl was a bit, but just like the first, I'm sure I'll get an answer eventually. Finally, after the girl with blue hair lined up with the other new girl behind King Leonard, King Crystal was the last person to come out of the carriage. With the door being closed by a guard, I waited as all 4 of our guests walked forward. Once they were close to us all, I welcomed them all the best I could.
" King Leonard, Queen Crystal, welcome to Paradise!"
I tried to sound as energetic as I could. I hoped they could appreciate it.
