Butler's Point Of View
" Explosion Magic? To think they've become this advanced. I knew it was a great idea to place my feelers out. To think that all they'd need to do was deliver a single bone from a grave."
The master had begun to read a letter from his " ally" and he's begun to mutter to himself, thankfully it doesn't take much to hear him. From what I can gather, the bone that he received from his Human " allies" was given to the Elves, who now have done something with the Explosion Magic that the Promethian Royal Family exclusively uses. His mutters were illuminating, but some of the finer points still eluded my mind. Regardless, it's safe to say that the master's plans were moving forward in a satisfying direction for him.
/Screech!/
The master's office door was opened and in walked the madam with the head maid following behind her.
" Oh, Dear, it looks like you're quite happy with your letter? I can tell Chris hasn't even moved from his position since he delivered it."
I simply bowed my head as the madam looked at me. I followed this up by pulling out a chair for the madam and the head maid. This is due to an edict that the madam made about how I should treat the maids in the mansion. I simply follow the wants of my masters, as any good butler would.
" Why thank you, Chris. Ah, if only my son could follow your example and read the mood of the room."
" The Young Lord is... Well, young, Madam Francine. He simply needs time to become as great as his Parents."
" And you're even good at flattery, Chris. Tell me, where exactly did you come from to join our mansion?"
" I come from Sweetblood, Madam."
" Ah, close to Blackstone. Marquess Yardin, I think? How could he let such a good young Demon go?"
" I'm sure it's because his staff fills his needs perfectly, I simply try to do the same thing, Madam."
The madam was clearly in a good mood today, she usually attempts to question and tease me like this when things are going well. The master didn't seem to care as he still placed his face quite far into the letter, he's reread quite a few times now.
" Those sweet words of yours, they must help with the girls, doesn't it Chris? Have you thought about marriage at all yet?"
" The life of a Butler doesn't permit me much time for such things I'm afraid. Even more so now with all of the work I must do for the future, Madam."
" Oh, come now, I've spoken to Dear about this. You should be having 2 days off a week, aren't you?"
She's somewhat hung up on this marriage talk recently, perhaps it's because she's realized that the young lord is a lost cause. He refuses to see any other woman besides Princess Sarah Dread- No, Lady Sarah Drake. Because of his refusal to seek another woman, it seems that the madam has passed her interest to me instead of her son. To be honest, I find this annoying, it gets in the way of my job.
" I spend most of my time on my days off cleaning and then readying myself for the workdays to come."
" Are you a workaholic, Chris?"
" I do believe I am, how else could I become a Head Butler after only working in this mansion for 5 years. Unless of course it's for my charming personality."
" Your face isn't so bad either, Chris."
The Head Maid, Lisa, finally spoke since entering the room. She was somewhat eye catching if one were to pay attention, her bright long pink hair that was tied into a ponytail for her work as a maid and pale skin seemed to give the impression that she spends most of her time in doors, however as a maid she actually spends most of her time working outside the mansion in the sun. Following on from that, if one was to look at her face, the glasses she wears hides her perfectly proportioned face. Her big round dark brown eyes you can see through the glasses she wears give the impression that she's a somewhat sad person, however she's usually quite cheerful if you speak to her. She's usually a quiet person who works extremely hard. I sometimes would wonder how someone so quiet would be able to become a Head Maid, but then I remember how the rest of the maids are usually busy gossiping about this or that. Meanwhile, Lisa would be scrubbing the floors until her hands dry out. It got to the point where she began to hide her hands behind herself when dealing with people. I asked her about this once and I didn't wish for her to have to go through that anymore. So, I ended up gifting her a somewhat expensive gel to moisturize her skin for her birthday last year. Since then, she's gone from making light-hearted conversations with me to now ignoring me. Only answering a question if she absolutely must or like now, when the madam speaks up. It somewhat hurts, but considering how expensive the gel is, I guess it makes sense that she thinks I might have some kind of ulterior motives for speaking to her. I don't with her, but it's still somewhat sad to think I have one less person to talk to.
