Chapter 259. A Method and A Name

" So, wait, I have a way to beat him now?"

" At the very least, you should be able to protect yourself and wear his time away."

" Well, what is the skill called? I gained 3 skills tonight, didn't I?"

" Yes, the skills you gained were " Double Barrier" " Triple Barrier" And " Holy Flame Control". While the Barrier skills are nice, the real important thing is Holy Flame Control. Like its name implies, you can manipulate your Holy Flames now instead of just launching it towards your opponent. The only caveat is that it's entirely based on your imagination and creativity with manipulating the flames!" 

Angela seemed relieved at the new skills I have. I mean, I've taken a sigh of relief to. My best strategy going back into the fray would be to look for a moment to launch a Holy Flame right in the guy's face. But now that I can manipulate it... Quite a few ideas were already swimming around in my head, especially to deal with that annoying super speed he has. I'm pretty sure he's moving fast enough to cause sonic booms from running, or at least that's what I think he's doing.

" That's better."

" Huh? What?"

Angela spoke to me as I was in the middle of thinking about counter strategies for the fight. It surprised me, I didn't understand what she was talking about either.

" What's " better?", Angela?"

" The look on your face, John. Before, you looked like you were prepared to die fighting, now you look as if you have a plan to win. That was the most upsetting thing to me. That look that seemed to think " there's no helping it.", it disturbed me more than I thought it could."

I thought about the conversation we've been having... Now that I think about it, I never said I would win, just that I needed to fight and protect Sarah and Anna... Maybe that guy did more damage to me than I thought? I mean, I wanted to win... But my best idea seemed to be to just wait for a moment to hit him with Holy Flame in the face... Now that I think about it, I don't know much about this guy... I should try asking about him again.

" Say, Angela..."

" You want to know about your enemy, right? Haaa..."

Angela let loose a deep sigh like she was tired.

" Yes, well... I suppose I should tell you..."

Angela turned around away from me. From the looks of it, she's thinking about memories from a long time ago. I waited for her to ready herself to talk. Maybe I would rush her if I didn't know that Sarah and Anna were safe now. But with my Barrier, I could take the extra time.

" I just... I just don't want you to think of me differently, after I tell you."

Angela was worried for some weird reason; I doubt knowing why that psycho ended up sealed is going to make me lose any respect I have for Angela. Regardless, I nodded my head to her. With a smile full of resignation as she began to speak.

" A long time ago... There was a war... I can't really talk about it, but it happened, we did things we didn't want to, because our Parents wished us to. To give you an idea, the horror stories you've heard about the 2nd World War in your world... Worse things were done during those terrible days... My brothers and sisters... As well as me would be considered war criminals in either your old world or Gaia."

" Gaia has war crime laws?"

Angela seemed confused for a moment, before she nodded her head.

" Yes, but... It mostly only covers Nobles or high-ranking military officers... Civilians were kept off the list for a few reasons. Most of them being related to the fact that the several races in Gaia couldn't get along at the time. It's been around 3000 years since then, I believe."
