" So, now that we have all of that figured out, I guess we just need to head over. I'd ask if you're okay with that, but to be honest, we're very much on a timetable here."
" Yes, I know. I just..."
Lady Cindra took a deep breath to gather herself, with that time I turned to Sarah, Anna and Princess Alice and started to explain the situation to them.
" Sarah, Anna, Alice. I've been speaking to Lady Cindra; she wants me to speak to Count Fracks and their children and tell them what she has to say. She's now getting ready. Do you want to come with me or would you prefer to sit this ou-"
/ Grip! Grip!/
Before I could even finish my sentence, Sarah quickly locked her arms around my left arm and Anna my right. I think I know their answer now. As for Princess Alice, I looked at her and could see she was struggling with her decision. I guess she really doesn't like ghosts.
" Alice, you can stay behind if you want, I mean, Victor and Partrick will be here, but they're not going to do anythin-"
" I'll go!"
She seemed to not like the idea of staying here with Victor and Patrick, Victor seemed a little offended while Patrick only rubbed his head a little with an awkward look on his face. Princess Alice quickly moved to next to Sarah and began to look around all over the place. It could just be me, but I think I can see her shivering, maybe since Beastmen have such sharp senses that maybe ghosts give them the chills when they're around? Or maybe it's just from them being scared?
" Okay, they're waving at you, Mr. Matthew. I'm ready now."
With Lady Cindra's words I turned around to see that Lady Diana had begun to wave at us, I felt the arms around my arms tighten a small amount and then I just said the words.
" Alright, let's go."
With my words we began to walk forward, and I opened a space in my Barrier to use as a door. We walked through and we walked in, Lady Diana's eyes were red, I could tell that she's been crying... With a quick look around, it looks like everyone has been crying. They're losing a father and a friend after all.
" He's growing weaker now; I don't think he has much longer... He's finally finished telling us his final thoughts. We'd like to sit with him... Until the time comes... Can you keep this Barrier up until then, Marquess Drake?"
" Of course I will. I'd like to go see him as well, if you all don't mind."
" What could you have to say to him, if you don't mind me asking Marquess Matthew?"
Byron seemed confused by my request; I could understand why. I turned to Lady Cindra to see if she really was ready. I could determination in her eyes, so I decided to just be honest.
" One of the abilities of a Paladin is that we can see and talk to ghosts. For instance, this entire night started for us because Victor Harvey woke me up in the middle of the night."
" Victor Harvey?... Oh! Patrick's son! He... He did disappear earlier this year..."
Byron seemed to realize what that meant.
" Yes, right now he's over there with his father. I'll be getting to what they want later, right now though, I'm here to grant a request to another ghost who came here with the Harvey boys. Lady Cindra wants me to tell all of you what she has to say."
" ...M-Mom?"
Byron's look on his face says it all, disbelief mixed with hope. Sarah and Anna seemed to read the mood and released my arms from their vice grips. With my newly acquired freedom, I turned to Lady Cindra to see if she had anything to help Byron believe it was all true.
