Chapter 288. Origin Of Calamity 2

" Well, yes, that's what we were thinking. But continuing on from that about our Job, don't you find it strange? What I just told you?"

" What do you mean? I mean, I even have Love Warrior as my 2nd Job! Our Love is more or less tailormade to have me gain that skill!"

I was somewhat confused from what Ms. Thea had said, but I reiterated what my 2nd Job was. I mean, there's a lot of focus on my Calamity Job, but Love Warrior is its own bag of worms. It's a somewhat difficult Job to learn skills for, I mean, when I first saw that status explanation, I was equal parts glad and perplexed by it.

Love Warrior

Given to a person with a Combat Oriented Job who has a Lover and they both have mutually fallen deeply in love with each other. In older times this Job used to be a measure of just how deeply a Warrior's feelings for their partners were. As a matter of fact, the way to gain more skills and abilities in this class is by interacting with your Lover, Dear User. The more intimate the act, the better of a chance of gaining a skill So by all means, go all out!

By all means, Dear User! Use this as an excuse to get Lovey Dovey! - The Goddess Of Love.

I was glad, since it proved to me that John felt as deeply about me as I did him, but I was perplexed by the last few words. Not the Goddess Of Love's advice, I knew that John would be more than happy to get Lovey Dovey with me. But the idea that I was doing that to gain a skill as opposed to just wanting to be with My Husband... It just didn't sit right with me, which is why I still haven't explained Love Warrior to him or Anna yet.

" It's not about how you gain the skill or not, Sarah. It's the question of how a Job that was created by mortals even has skills to learn. And also, this is just the conjecture we've reached about the "Calamity" Job series in general."

Ms. Thea's words swam around in my ears for a moment, and they did bring to mind, familiar questions in my head. I looked to Lance to see what he thought about it.

" Before you ask, I didn't live long enough to learn any skills, my first battle I lost control and that was the end, I was killed by a combined force of our enemies and my comrades, I was that big of a threat at that point. As for the Job itself, I was only told it would let me stand on equal footing with the Heroes who the other Races placed their hopes for the wars in."

" Continuing from his words, Sarah. Do you know how many skills the 2nd inheritor could learn? And don't you wonder how we Demons were able to survive even after the first holders? Or what happened to the other first Calamity Holders?"

My curiosity had grown larger and larger seemingly with every word Ms. Thea had spoken.

" Yes! There it is! That same look we've all had! Don't worry, we can answer all of these questions!  Let's start with a detailed answer for the first one I posed! 2nd, take it away!"

Ms. Thea had an excited grin on her face as she turned to an old Demon that looked like he was nearing the end of his life and began to speak.

" I suppose I can, 6th."

He turned from Ms. Thea and began to look at me before preparing to say what he had on his mind.

" Hello, I'm Martin, but I'd think it'd be easier for you to refer to me as 2nd from now on, I've always had a difficult time with names, so I'll just call you 13 from now on. Anyways, I'm the 2nd Calamity Spear Demon. After around 5 years after Sir Lance died on the battlefield, I obtained our Job. Now then, after obtaining the Job, I gained a Skill called Berserk Immunity after my first few battles. My Wife was able to bring me to my senses while we were fighting Dragonkin at the time. After the battle, I was able to look at the description of the skill and that's when the mystery of Calamity Jobs started to come into focus for us."
