Chapter 312. Ms. Victoria Awakens

" But he was just a baby!"

" I know, I know. I'm sorry..."

" I know Ma'am... I can't imagine what you're going through."

" Mommy, it's all going to be okay..."

The fact that I was Human made speaking to Ms. Victoria a tad bit difficult, because of that, I had Sarah and Anna explain the situation to her. I looked at Victor and Patrick and started to release some of my aggression from being slapped on them.

" You couldn't have mentioned she wouldn't take too kindly to a Human being here?"

" Well... Your kind of our only option... Hey, Kim doesn't hate Humans! That counts for something, Matthew!"

" What about you two!?"

" I mean... It seemed like a bigger issue when we were alive?"

" Why are you questioning it, Vic!?"

" Hey, I'm just a kid!"

" I'm sorry, Marquess Matthew! It really did slip my mind! I've never really had an issue with Humans, but my Wife's family had some dealings with a few passing merchants that didn't go well! I completely forgot about it!"

" Oh yeah, you always did roll your eyes when mom went on one of those rants, didn't you, Pops?"

" I swear to the Gods with you two..."

* Tug...*

Just as I was about to rip into them, I felt a tug at my sleeve, I turned to see Kim looking up at me. I took a deep breath and tried to make a more neutral expression on my face.

" I'm sorry my Mom did that... She's always been a little... Hard on Humans... Do you hate us now, Matthew?"

She looked genuinely concerned about my opinion on her family. I took a deep sigh before bending down and patting her head.

" No, I don't hate you... believe it or not, I'm quite used to things like this happening at this point. I just wish that I could've been warned about it before hand... And about being possibly slapped would've been nice as well. Besides, you shouldn't be worried or sad about me now, Kim. Your Mom's finally awake! That's great news! It means you can be a family again! You both can live your lives-"

" Ahhhh! You idiot! We were supposed to grow old together!"

" After grieving appropriately, you both can live your lives again!"

My words were beginning to set Kim at ease, despite her mother's justified reaction to the news that she was hearing. Kim turned around and began to speak to me again.

" At first, Mom was so angry when Big Bro got lost, she thought he was goofing off in town. She was pacing back and forth all day talking about how hard she was going to spank Big Bro... Then when Dad didn't come back home... She was angry at first, but then... She just... Stopped... Stopped doing anything... Now she's finally up again... Even though she's sad right now, I'm glad she's here again."

I place my hand on her head again and nodded my head to her words.

" I'm glad she's here to, Kim."

With that, we just sat and watched as Sarah, Anna and Princess Alice all tended to Ms. Victoria as we sat on the sidelines. It was strange to be in a room with someone crying and not really being able to do anything for them. Eventually, Ms. Victoria was able to calm herself... Or tire herself out, either way, she was able to calm her breathing before she began to speak.

" Princess Sarah-"

" I'm just Lady Sarah now, I'm the Wife of a Marquess now. No more, no less, Ms. Victoria. Besides, today has been quite an upsetting one. Don't worry about titles, just call me, Sarah today."
