Chapter 308. Some Advice And Some Guards

" Okay, we're off for now, we'll be back in a bit."

" Alright."

Sarah, Anna and I got up from the chairs we were sitting in. It's been a few hours since we arrived at the townhouse that the Fracks have been kind enough to let us lodge in after all of the fighting. After the Fracks kids finished all of the decisions, they had to make for planning their father's funeral, the Count families left for their own vacation homes here in Zana, and we all decided to take a nap into the late afternoon. It made sense to us since everyone had only slept for around an hour or 2 before all hell broke loose. We woke up in the afternoon. With her being able to rest, Sarah was able to pull out some of the food she had in her Mana Storage, once she did, Ellie and Wendy decided to make us all a late lunch. With some oversight from Anna, the food was finished and the Fracks joined us for lunch. Once we had eaten some food, I moved on to our next order of business. I turned to Byron who was sipping on some coffee after eating and asked him where Ms. Victoria and her daughter, Kim lived.

" Are you sure you 3 can make it there all by yourselves?"

" Well to be fair, Victor and Patrick said they'd head back to their house after we said we'd go to sleep, I'd imagine I'd hear them when we get close."

" Really? Patrick and Victor were quite reserved while they were still alive?"

" That's probably because they were employees trying to make a living, right?"

" Ah..."

Byron seemed to connect some dots in his head about a few things. He then took a glance at Ellie and Wendy who were discussing something about their cooking from earlier.

" Our servants are quite different compared to the norm, Lord Byron. That may be due to the disposition of Our Husband, however. You shouldn't mind it as much as you are. I find that your servants are more in line with those found in the Royal Castle. Also, most of our servants are from the outer villages, so they weren't trained in or near the heart of the country like most of your own servants."

" I- I see... Even still..."

" There's no one right way to live as a Noble, Lord Byron, you should pick whatever feels best to you, it's your life and the legacy you wish to leave in the future that you have to think about now. Your father's ways may not fit you, Our Husband's way, maybe even King Warrick's way is also wrong for you, it's up to you to figure out what you wish to be."

Sarah offered some advice to Byron who seemed to think that he was doing something wrong. Lady Cindy looked concerned as well. I thought I offer a bit of my own advice.

" Take this with a grain of salt, Byron. I'm not exactly crazy about being a Noble."

" What!?"

Lady Cindy appeared to be shocked at my words. I also just realized that Princess Alice was also sat with us. But now that I see her reaction, she simply was nodding her head like it made sense to her. Now that I think about it, even though we tried to hide it somewhat, with her sharp hearing it's not like we were ever able to really hide it from her. That and the fact that she's also seen how I treat Wendy and Ellie as well. Maybe everything I've done since she came to Paradise was useless? Regardless, I need to continue my point. Lady Cindy and Byron are both looking at me for an explanation.

" Well, simply put, I wasn't born a Noble nor did I really have any wish to become one. But I ended up one for a few different reasons that I'm sure you're both aware of. I've tried to live up to the expectations of being a Noble as best as I can, but there's some parts of my feelings that leak out in certain ways, one of those is the way that I treat my servants and how they treat me. What I'm trying to get at is that like Sarah said, there's no one right way for being a Noble and one of the few ways I made my home feel like a home and not a house that I live in for propriety's sake. You might think it's too lax for a Noble, but we have no real issue with the way things have been, right Sarah, Anna?"
