Chapter 226. 2nd Day In Zana

" Ellie! It took the lettuce from my hand!"

" I know! This one did the same! They're so...."

" CUTE!!!"

Ellie and Wendy were currently enjoying the petting zoo that Byron told us was a fun place to visit. Sarah, Anna and I decided to come here for Wendy and Ellie to have a nice story to tell when we arrive back home to Paradise. It was already late in the afternoon; I think it was about time for us to find some dinner.

" Look at this one! It's even cuter!"

But as the girls were having a fun time with all the lambs, dog-sized guinea pigs and rabbits... I guess we could stick it out a bit longer.

" So, how do you think it'll go, Darling?"

Anna spoke quietly to me as we watched Ellie and Wendy playing with the animals. She was referring to the deal I hashed out with Lord Byron last night. Simply put, I had desserts and he needed them. After allowing him to taste test some ice cream and cheesecake, he was all for it. I explained to him that we used milk in the product, but that it was safe. Once he was sure that there were no adverse effects, he agreed to use it. All I asked was to tell everyone that my business did the catering, when he asked for the name, I happily told him it was called Paradise Foods. Lady Cindy eventually lost to her curiously and tried the ice cream as well. Safe to say I think I have a client after the birthday party already.

" Well, from your eyes, you told me they weren't lying, with that, I don't think there's much to worry about. At first, I thought we'd need to get... Tricky, in order to advertise, but this works out better for us. I mean, we arrived here thinking that we would just go over Lord Fracks's head and serve some ice cream, but with Lord Byron's permission, we can advertise with his full cooperation. At the end of the night, he'll thank us for the desserts and tell everyone that we'd happily be doing bulk orders to other towns. I think we're definitely getting the better end of this deal. Do you disagree, Anna? Sarah?"

I asked for my wives' opinions on this topic again. I first asked them about it in the mansion, which granted looking back, wasn't the best choice since they could've been listening in on us, so my wives said they needed to think about it a bit more. I'd imagine with Anna asking about it, she probably has her own thoughts about the situation. I waited to hear what they both had to say.

" I think we need to be careful. Just because he didn't lie, that doesn't mean that he wants to work with us, My Love."

" Right, he didn't explicitly say that he wanted to cooperate with us, he just agreed to allow us to cater the dessert. Which benefited his side more at the moment. While he might like the ice cream and the cheesecake, that doesn't mean that he won't do something disrespectful in the moment. Lady Cindy's attitude I think reveals more about how the people of Zana view you more so than Lord Byron. That's without even mentioning their father. Something seems wrong with their story, Darling. I mean, their father barely says a word to them for months and then he randomly sends an invitation to you? Something seems off about that."

" So, just like we thought before we came here, we need to be cautious?"

" Yes, but you seemed almost as if you were trying to bond with Lord Byron yesterday, My Love."

" Yes, what did cause you to decide to want to do that, Darling?"

Now they're ganging up on me instead of Lady Cindy.

" Relax, it was just in that moment, I think we connected over the fact that we were both holding back people who wanted to fight because they loved us."

" Well, of course I wanted to! Everything from yesterday was so vexing!"

" Can you really blame us, Darling? I mean, all day, not one person gave you the respect deserving of a Marquess and yet they have the gall to stare at you like that! It's riling me up as I think about it now!"
