Chapter 279. Another Predictable Surprise

" But why?"

Princess Alice was confused as I asked her to watch over Sarah so Anna and I could go and finish this fight. She apparently didn't understand why we asked her to do it.

" Well, you're actually someone here that's close to Sarah besides Anna and me, so we can go and fight him without having to worry about her safe-"

" No, I mean why keep me away! I want to fight him to! He kidnapped me for God's sake!"

" I understand that, but you don't have an actual way to hurt him currently."

" What do you mean? Anna can just enchant my swords again, can't she?"

" Not now, our mana is nearly empty. I'm only at around 10% right now and Anna is... Anna, how much do you have left?"

" About 15%."

" And you both want to go and try fighting a God with barely any mana left at all?"

" He hurt Sarah, so yes."

" Well, me to!"

I didn't expect this much push back from her... I thought she would be tired after beating the giant, but it seems she's still raring to go. Maybe we should try doing this as a trio? I mean, it wouldn't be the wro-"

" I hope I'm not interrupting anything, scum?"

" Hmpf!"

I couldn't help but grunt at the pain. He appeared behind me again and smashed my head into the ground. Thankfully, this time we were on dirt and grass, so the damage wasn't as bad as the time he did it on that basement's stone floor.

/CLANG!/

" You'll never learn will you, mutt?"

I can't see, but based on his insult, I think Princess Alice attacked him.

" We're going to destroy you!"

" I doubt it."

Princess Alice gritted out a threat and the God Of The Blackwood calmy replied. Anna must be looking for a moment to use her Goddesses manas... No... Sarah... She must be watching over Sarah since this bastard is here now, otherwise she'd be the first one to attack him. Let me see if I can help her protect Sarah though? I start to channel my mana into a spell.

" Holy Flames!"

Despite his reaction, the jerk got off of me and seemed to clear a good distance. I was able to stand up finally.

" Matthew, are you okay?"

Princess Alice called to me, she seemed a bit worried, I was more concerned about Sarah who was still sleeping soundly currently. Anna was guarding Sarah, just like I thought. That's fine though, I'd rather have someone he's afraid of taking a hit from, guarding Sarah rather than someone else. I looked back at our opponent and began to prepare how I would beat him.... Or at least... That was the plan...

" Uhm? Matthew, what's the deal?"

" What do you mean?"

Princess Alice seemed confused about something; I didn't know what she could be talking about?

" Well... That."

She points to my side... Oh, after looking, my Holy Flames were still around me. I guess since I just used it to force him off of me, it didn't get sent anywhere... This should work out well. I wonder?
