" Aren't they supposed to be here by now?"

" Our scouts tell us that their carriages were only 2 miles away when we arrived, we'll be alerted any minute now of their arrival, King Leonard."

/BANG!/

" Kings and Queens! I'm here to report that the Elves have arrived in the courtyard!"

Just as King Leonard began to feel impatient and Warrick was allaying his doubts, a Demon Royal Guardsmen entered the room to announce the arrival of the Elves. I looked back at King Leonard to see that he didn't really seem to be feeling better. It looks like he was hoping they'd no show. We were all currently sitting at a giant oblong table in a garden in the center of this building. At the head of the left side of the table was Warrick, to his right was Aqua, followed by King Alan and Queen Aria. To Warrick's left is King Leonard and Queen Crystal, I was sat at the right of Queen Crystal. This place... It reminded me of the lunch I had to gauge people's interest in dairy products. It was nice and spacious with multiple different colored flowers with a good view of the sky, even with the giant stone walls all around us. With the Elves now arriving, I wondered if my job was done here. I mean, the entire reason I was here in the first place was to make sure Warrick and King Leonard wouldn't end up fighting each other instead of finding out what happened that day. Now that it's been accomplished, I've been wondering what it is I'm doing here exactly?

" So, with that... Do I need to leave now? Or?"

The entire room looked at me with a shocked expression.

" What? Should a Marquess be here?"

I asked a simple question that everyone at the table apparently didn't think about.

" Yes, why is Matthew here, Warrick? Aqua?"

King Alan asked the same question as me. We all looked towards Warrick and Aqua. Warrick had a calm expression on his face and answered calmly to everyone's question.

" Emergency medical and defensive operations. Also, he's the only non-commoner to witness the event."

" What?"

I was surprised by the first part of Warrick's answer. Aqua began to fill in the blanks.

" Don't you remember your own report, Matthew? They made explosions happen out of thin air, while I know of magic that can do that, it usually takes a bunch of preparation that shouldn't have been possible with a moving target like the migrating Humans. Therefore, they either have a spell that we don't know of or even worse, they have a bunch of spells we have no idea of. Because of that, having a Paladin who can heal and protect us at a moment's notice, we thought was the best option."

What Aqua explained made sense for the most part.

" If that's the case, does that mean I have to stand up between Warrick and Leonard when the Elves arrive then?"

" No, your Barrier forms to the exact size that you wish it to be, also you can double and triple the Barrier now, right? I think you'll be fine sitting there. Just be prepared to use your spells at the drop of a hat."

" Okay."

With Aqua's explanation complete, there wasn't much else to say.

" If that's the case, let's say the worst-case scenario happens, and we're all injured. Who would Matthew heal first?"

Queen Aria asked an interesting question.

" Well, wouldn't it come down to who was injured the worst?"

Queen Crystal offered an easy answer to Queen Aria's question, granted it wasn't what I would do anyways.

" Even if that's the case, what if people are equally injured? I don't want to cause an argument; I just want to have a solid course of action moving forward."
