Chapter 199: What Causes a Curse?

With the flames of the sun god Amaterasu burning, Zeref's body began to burn slowly. After about five minutes the flames go out. Zeref's body was charred, burnt, but his body began to glow. A golden light emitted from his body and it soon began to turn into smaller golden orbs and float up into the sky. The battle was over. Natsu has successfully saved his home. He protected his friends and family, and most importantly he stoped Zeref. It wasn't easy, nor was it a happy ending. A war is a war. Destruction, death, sadness is what is left after a war is finished. All Natsu can do now, is hope the curse has been lifted and things will slowly go back to normal. Mavis on the other hand, is looking up to the skies seeing the small orbs float and slowly disappear. Natsu reaches for her and places his hand on her shoulder. She looks at him and smiles.

Mavis: It's over...it's finally over.

She says while holding onto his hand. Natsu looks at her and gives her a warm smile back.

Natsu: Yeah, it is.

Mavis then proceeds to look around her guild. It's destroyed due to the battle, but it's nothing she can't fix. She heads towards the bar area and underneath all that rubble she finds a bottle of sake. She raises it up and shows Natsu.

Mavis: Want some?

Natsu: Sure why not

He says as he sits on the ground and leans his head back. Mavis joins him and sits near him, opening the bottle. She takes the first drink and makes a face.

Mavis: This is strong

She hands Natsu the bottle, while wiping her mouth. Natsu takes the bottle and takes a drink.

Natsu: Ugh..that went straight through my stomach.

Both of them begin to laugh. Mavis notices Natsu's right hand is shaking.

Mavis: Are you okay?

He looks at Mavis and notices her looking at his hand. He shakes it, and tries to open and close it but can't do it.

Natsu: I'll be fine, I guess that new ability has its drawbacks.

Mavis: I saw, black flames? Where did that come from?

Natsu thinks back to a few minutes when Zeref attacked him and left a giant hole in his chest.

Natsu: Believe it or not, I spoke with Amaterasu.

Mavis: The Amaterasu? As in the Sun God?

Natsu: Yeah..apparently him and E.N...I mean him and I had a deal that goes back a few hundred years ago.

Mavis: Can I know?

Natsu: Yeah it's nothing big. But he told me I'll save you this time and let it be the last. The other guy told me you are willing to hold my power. I just hope you keep his end of the deal.

Mavis: which is?

Natsu: Never let people forget who he is.

Mavis: that's all?

She says surprised. Natsu nods his head.

Natsu: Yup, that's all. He wants people to remember him.

Mavis: But the people of Japan know who he is, and thank him for providing the sun in order for them to grow crops, and give them light.

Natsu: That's what I thought too. But he says with all these new gods popping up out of no where some people are forgetting about the old gods. So I told him I'll make sure they never forget who he is. In return he healed the giant hole in my chest.
