From Despair, Comes Hope

Sekiri Village.

Rica woke up next to Jamie, who was still asleep.

Staring at his calm face, she felt a sense of tranquility go through her.

This was a moment of peace in this hectic life of hers.

Oh how did it come to this?

She reflected on her choices, whether they were right or wrong.

There was only one thing she knew now, her choices- she didn't regret.

But it was these choices she made that led to the culling of so many.

They didn't even get to say goodbye.

One second they were there...

And the next, they were gone.

She felt hot streaks flow down her cheeks.

She didn't want to be the cause of these innocent people's deaths.

She just wanted it to end, for her loving teacher to come back again for her parents to love her for her old friends to come back.

She just wanted it to stop.

Sobbing quietly, she stared at the love of her life.

The one who would make everything better, the one who would stand by her.

Then, Jamie woke up.

His eyes opened groggily but he could hear a quiet sniffing sound.

Rubbing the sleep away, he looked at Rica.

She was crying.

Alarmed, he said,"Rics...don't cry..."

"I just want it to stop Jamie...it's...I-I can't anymor-"

Rica was cut off by Jamie covering her mouth, keeping her quiet.

"Rics...I understand." Jamie said as he pulled her into his embrace, holding her, unwilling to part.

She sat there, in the embrace of the one she loved, crying her heart out.

For once, her emotions completely poured out after being stoppered up for so long.

It was at this point when it happened.

A sound wave overcame their camp.

It was almost visible, sweeping through the camp.

A deep bass exploded in their ears, jolting anyone who was asleep awake.

Climbing out of their beds and rushing out still in night gear, weapons in hand, to face the oncoming hoard.

But for once, nothing greeted them.

Outside, the only thing greeting them was their friends.

"What's going on?" Nathan asked.

"No idea. We heard a loud sound and rushed out." Jamie replied.

"Ditto." Jeremiah responded.

Then, a voice resounded in their heads.
