Trial to Glory

Sekiri Village.

Weeks passed in the blink of an eye.

Only a week remained till the temple opened its gates.

The group was off doing their own things.

Mostly, they were training.

Pushing their bodies to the extreme limits, hoping to breakthrough to the next stage or level.

So far, they had three at the paragon realm, Jamie, Rica and Quentin

One at the high god realm recently, Lisa.

Three at the overlord realm, Nathan, Gracie and Dornicus.

And finally, one at the deity realm, Jeremiah.

Despite the fact that if they chose to, they could dominate the world, they instead led a life in the shadows, staying from the prying eyes.

This was when a man walked into the village.

Nathan rushed to the gate after realising the man's level of power.

Overlord.

Upon seeing the man, Nathan's eyes glinted with happiness yet sorrow.

He had been caught.

"Lucius!" Nathan shouted, engulfing the man in a tight hug.

Lucius smiled back, patting Nathan on the back,"I never thought i'd see you here old friend. You probably know of my predicament?"

"Monarch God turned into a true god of evil. Truly a terrifying existence." Nathan answered.

The rest rushed over.

After explaining the situation, they understood this man was yet another one of Duo Seven, this legendary group of fighters going against a great being of power in the past.

In a few days, they understood Lucius quite well.

Wine, wine and more wine was all that was needed for Lucius to function.

He was like a drinking fiend, though his superior knowledge and thinking was unrivalled.

"We wait for the gates to open and we take the trials. I believe with the group of us, passing the trials should be a piece of cake if- you don't consider the last two trials." Lucius said as the group gathered at his house.

"What are the tests?" Jeremiah voiced his question.

"The test is called the 'Trial of Glory'. There are a total of five stages to it. All you need to do is be good in five areas. Those areas being one, you must be above the saint realm. Two, you must be strong willed and determined in spite of whatever you experience. Three, you must never give in to your inner demons, letting them control you. Four, you must face an unknown factor."

"The fifth?" Quentin asked.

"Don't know. Never been found out. No one's made it through the fourth before." Lucius said.

"She says she's attacking soon. When do you think?" Rica asked, turning to face Lucius.

His face hardened,"She already has. The plains are already in chaos outside of this place. In the more populated areas, they're being wiped out one after another, no cities nor people left alive. I'm willing to be i'm the only survior- only because she spared me."

The others shivered in fear at imagining the horrific sights.

Combined with the things they had seen her do, it was more than believable.
