One week had gone by.

One week on the battlefield, that is.

To Lucas' group?

It felt like a century.

Of the original forty or so classmates they had plus a teacher, right now, only six remained behind.

Lucas, Ryan, Jason, Cheryl, Madeline and May.

Will apparently left the castle soon after and his whereabouts are unknown.

As for Joel, his circumstances are unknown.

Within the dormitory they were given, the six gathered.

Over the course of this event, they got quite familiar with each other, getting closer and more comfortable.

"So, Angeline and Garry passed away today fighting for a war we never asked to be in." Madeline said, clearly in distress and shock.

"Madeline, calm down. It's alright, we'll make it. We will. I promi-"

"Promise what, Lucas?" Madeline shouted, sniffing,"Huh? You say that every time someone dies out there Lucas. And according to my knowledge, Alex is dead Lucas. Now Garry and Angeline are joining him. So tell me. Look me straight in my eyes Lucas and tell me that you can guarantee that we'll make it. Huh? Did those three make it?"

"Madds, cool down okay? Lucas was just trying to encourage us. He's trying his best too alright?" May comforted her,"I'll bring her someplace else..."

The two left shortly after, leaving Lucas with a Ryan, Jason and Cheryl.

"So? What are we going to do?"

"What?" Lucas asked.

"Lucas, you can't be serious." Jason asked incredulously.

"What do you mean?"

"We have three friends that have died here. They were with us last week when we arrived. Madeline's broken down Lucas. I'm not sure if the rest of us can hold up much more. We need a game plan."

"Jason, a game plan? What kind of game plan are we even talking about?" Ryan said calmly.

"Look think of it like this. It's like Newton's law. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If there's a way to bring us here, then..."

"There's a way to bring us back." Cheryl finished.

"Bingo." Jason answered.

Ryan laughed bitterly while Lucas shook his head,"Lucas and I. We, while at the library at the palace figured out something."

"You did?"

"This world, though it may not look the part, is a million, no- A trillion times more advanced than us."

Jason laughed,"What? You serious? Look at this place. There's no air conditioning, no nothing."

"Yet, there's a cooling stone. A stone, mind you, that is far more advanced than our own air conditioning back on earth."

"What are you trying to say."

"You see, this world is efficient. It usually only invents things it needs. On the occasion, a certain form of entertainment might come along but mostly, everything has been developed to fit the needs. They aren't useless ventures for a more comfy life Jason. They're constantly developing more weapons to fight, more magic to fit even more needs, more ways to tone their bodies to the extreme."

"What's your point here?"

"In our world, maybe in a few thousand or million years even, there will be a time where technology is so, so advanced that you can't tell it from magic anymore. But in this world, technology is lagging behind so slowly that you can't even tell that it's technology anymore. I mean why spend thousands to build a lift when you could just as easily learn a trick to jump up to your second floor? Why make computers when you can use magic to store all information without failure. Why do painful, costly surgery that might fail when you have an almost invincible power of healing wounds instantly? My point, Jason, is that earth as we know it, is so far behind that we barely count as a primitive race compared to this world. Compare a gun to say, a magic missile from this world. A gun fires with ammo, might fail at any time from getting stuck and takes money. On the other hand, a magic missile is made entirely out of magic, takes almost no effort with practice, can be controlled if you have the skill and is many times faster and stronger than a bullet. Furthermore, they have armour to easily block these missiles. We, on the other hand have made something that would be snapped in two the moment this world's missile makes contact." Ryan finished, shutting Jason up.

"In conclusion, if they can't figure out how to get back to our world with such advanced tech...What makes you think we, a rag tag group of average students, can somehow find the solution to return to our world?" Ryan concluded.

Though he wished with all his heart that this fact was not true, they had the fact the cold hard facts that stared them right in the face.

"There's no returning home by ourselves. This I know. But..." Cheryl who was quiet had spoken up.

"What is it Cheryl?"

"Well it's just that I found something out. Gods...Are apparently real."

Jason stared at Cheryl like she had gone mad,"Alright, advanced technology I can accept. But gods? Have you gone mad? Is this getting back at me because I stole your food? I'm an atheist Cheryl, this is ridiculous. No omnipotent entity exists, just look at the build a rock so heavy even they can't carry example."

"No, they aren't omnipotent Jason. But they do exist. They aren't just legends, they're practically historical records. Gods are a higher, upgraded version of living beings. They have emotions, feelings and desires. They exist as gatekeepers, taking care of the certain link to what they are related to. Like how Eros takes care of love and Freya is the goddess of the harvest."

"Your point?"

"My point is, if we can get one of these gods on our side..."

"They could send us back..." Lucas continued.

"Exactly."

"Hah! You talk as if this is easy? We're talking about a god here, and for god's sake- no pun intended, how do we get a god on our side? And what's worse is the fact that my reality has been broken and gods have existed all this time. Wait...Does that mean the gods on our earth..."

"Could very well exist, yes. But right now, we need to focus on this world, not the one we can't get back to." Ryan remarked.

"Ryan's right...but Jason's right too. How exactly would we get a god on our side?"

"Well, a few books I've read hold insight but it's mostly just circumstantial and speculating but I'd say it's a good start."

"Pray tell, what are these conditions?"

"Well one, it could be they need a certain thing from the planet or require some kind of help from a wise sage. This usually applies to newly assigned gods looking for direction from the wisest of demigods. Usually happens...Once every few decillion years, basically almost never."

"Another would be that a catastrophe is happening and the planet is under the protection of a Guardian god. They might descend to help. But usually it applies to world shaking events, things like when the world's about to end or something. So unless we're thinking about starting mass annihilation against every race in this world, it won't work."

"Other ways?" Ryan asked.

"The third way would be one god inviting another to a planet. This one's a bit controversial cause it's basically speculation and basically zero evidence."

"And the last method would be the easiest one-"

"Well why didn't you mention that first?"

"Because, it's the most implausible. But it seems simple in theory. All the gods need is a personal reason or vendetta and they might end up on a planet for that. Simple as that. Impossible innit? Told you."

"We're back to square one."

"Indeed we are..."

And so, the group spent the day away squabbling, debating and discussing.

Though they cracked a few jokes, seemed a lighthearted and had the occasional smile, they knew, deep down, this war, was taking a huge toll on them both mentally and physically.

A/N

Yo! I'll be taking a little break from writing tomorrow. I've been so immersed in my writing and thinking that I totally forgot it was my birthday till my parents reminded me! Anyways, I'll be out celebrating and I don't think I'll get any work done. Well, that's all for now. As always, just enjoy the story and goodbye!
