Fort Galdence.
"The people in this room, you are the most important of the bunch in this war as of right now. We have held the lines for weeks now." Cade started.
"I understand a few have perished due to mishaps. Some died valiantly on the battlefield. But now, we have received news."
"Care to tell us now instead of leaving us on edge commander Cade?" Jason barked, both in a grumpy mood and feeling tense.
"We'll be at ease everyone. Resistance is coming. Apparently they'll be here any mome-"
BOOM!
A brilliant flash of blue exploded from nowhere.
The windows all broken from an invisible wave of power that left everyone on edge.
"By the gods, what the fu*k happened!" Brooks yelled.
"It's the battlefield! Something's landed there!" Aaron hollered back as the entire group rushed to the castle walls.
Then, they saw a horrifying sight.
Where the battlefield once was, stood two people within a massive crater deeper than a few meters.
One male, one female.
The most of the troops of the opposing army had been cleanly destroyed, up till their base.
"It looks like the Freedom army's not much. Just a few scraps of useless slaves bandung together like a rag-tag mercenary group. Pathetic." The male voice called out, reverberating throughout the battlefield, heard by both sides.
"There's our backup." Cade said.
"[Cinders]." The voice chanted a low ranked spell, rank two.
It was a higher, more advanced version of an area of attack spell called [Burning Earth] but it was still a basic spell.
Yet this one, this one felt different.
The air began to heat up, the earth cracked as trees collapsed.
"By god, he's a Monster." Brooks breathed,"A genius freak."
"What's happening?" Lucas called out.
Then, the earth gave way as fiery flames exploded from every crack, filling every inch of the battlefield with flames so high and mighty that it left the enemy feeling despondent, cutting their courage.
It all happened in a flash.
The flames billowed up for a moment before simmering down, leaving a charred land filled with dried corpses that seemed like they died millennia ago.
"T-this power..." Ryan muttered.
"Hello commanders. I've come on the orders of Gracie Valencia to provide backup. I believe this is all the backup you need? Every soldier, commander and ally of the freedom army within a ten kilometre radius has been turned to skeletons. Please provide me with a room while you pack up your base. I have been ordered to come back with you." The man said emotionlessly.
"Wait...I remember that voice..." Ryan muttered.
"What? You do?..." Cheryl asked.
"Yeah...Yeah I do too..." Jason said incredulously.
"What? Who is it then?" Lucas asked.
"Stop leaving us on edge darn it!" May shouted.
"It's..."
"It's..." Jason looked to Ryan as he said it, as did Ryan.
"Joel." They both answered.
"Huh? Impossible." Lucas said,"Joel died..."
