Revival...At a Price

The ape froze.

It felt threatened by the little girl before it.

Mia stood up silently, her blue hair turned a violent crimson as her body suddenly excluded a dangerous aura that pushed the ape back.

Mia was currently forcefully breaking her seals to access her power.

In short term, it would be able to scare off the ape...As for long term...It might take years...Possibly centuries before she even be able to gain a semblance of her true self back.

"Die." Mia muttered,"Everything should just die."

The ape backed off in fear but Mia wouldn't let it off so easily,"[Devil's Rage: Hellfire Domain]."

In a five meter radius, the walls started to melt as the ape scrambled to run away only to have its famed crystal body start to melt from the seemingly ever increasing heat.

"[Hellfire Domain: Thirteen Blazing Hells]" Mia muttered as tears flooded her eyes.

A burning hatred appeared within her eyes as she stared coldly at the frightened ape.

As the saying went, a cornered rat, will bite the cat back.

This was the bite back.

Except, the cat had not provoked a rat but rather...A Phoenix...

From the ground, thirteen dazzling white flames burst into being and flew directly towards the ape who couldn't escape even if t tried.

Each flame burned a hole directly through the ape as it passed through.

"[Explosive Strength]." Mia chanted as she stalked towards the severely injured ape.

Raising her fists, Mia brought them down like twin dragons raging towards a common enemy.

The ape didn't even have a chance to scream as it shattered into oblivion, not even dust remained of it.

As soon as the ape was shattered, Mia fell to the floor weakly, the white flames and burning domain disappeared in an instant.

Mia felt unhappy,"Why is life so unfair?..."

"That's because if life were fair, it wouldn't be entertaining to us wouldn't it?" A voice rang out clearly in the cold, damp cave.

"Who?..." Mia whispered.

A face entered her line of sight.

Belle.

"Yo." Belle said with a smile.

Mia felt her body revitalising by just standing beside Belle and soon, she could walk easily but running would be out of the question for a while.

"You...Why are you here?" Mia said.

Belle ignored Mia and walked towards Joel's corpse,"Woah? Has little miss Mia fallen for a human?"

Mia stared at Belle nervously,"I..."

Belle laughed,"Don't you think its ironic? When I first saw you all those years ago, arrogantly destroying planets, because the men on the planets asked you out. You said no one was worthy of you as their partner. And now, look at you. Mad in love to the point of forcing your true power in revenge to save a small human."

Mia had a weathered look in her eyes,"It has been many years since then...My memories grow blurry...There's just something about him that...That draws me to him...So why...Why did he have to die?"

Mia lied on the wall of the cavern, Joel's cold body on her lap.

Belle sighed,"You know...The real reason I imprisoned you back then wasn't because you were destroying planets. I could just conjure up a few more if I wanted. The reason was because your father told me to. Now I don't do favours very often but your father and pleaded with me for five entire years, begging on my doorstep at the Destiny Bell, made to look like a fool, just for me to take you away."

"But...Why would my father want me to..."

"The Azure Phoenix clan isn't all sunshine and rainbows darling. Though they're one of the three strongest beasts in the universe, their birth rates aren't high. Clocking out at one child every thousand millennia at its peak, every single child is precious to the clan and if one is lost, things would not turn out well...So...To put it simply...The Azure Phoenix clan has been the subject of much criticism due to...Wanting to stay pure. As such, inbreeding prevails and many deformities start to appear in this 'pure' bloodline. However, your father, he had a different idea. He wanted to make you, his then unborn child, as strong, as powerful as he could so he would feel safe when you left the clan on your own."

"So...He slept with another beast race...Presumably, the Moonlight Chimeras...Another of the top three strongest races to make you...An abnormality. So when the clan found out, he suppressed the information and sent you to me in hopes that I'd take you in. So in conclusion, your father slept with another woman, broke clan rules, and made a bastard child before passing said child along to me for protection."

Mia was left speechless at the torrent of new information of her parents and clan that normally a person would be hesitant to speak of.

However, this was Belle, a goddess that was the unreachable apex.

She was roguish, decisive and most certainly blunt.

Belle laughed,"Never would I have imagined little miss chatterbox from several billion years back could stay silent for even a moment! A momentous occasion. But now's not the time dearie. We can chat more in detail later. For now, your little lover needs you."

"Needs...Me?" Mia asked.

Belle gave a coy smile,"You see...I don't like doing things unfairly unless something important is involved...Say a dispute amongst deities and such. But...I'll let this one slide on account of you entertaining me. So...I'll tell you this...I can revive your little lover-"

Mia immediately jumped up and begged upon hearing Belle's words,"Please! I'll do anything! Please!"

Belle laughed again at Mia's miserable sight,"Alright alright. I haven't finished speaking yet...I can revive him...At a price..."

Mia nodded hurriedly.

"The price is...You'll be connecting your life to him...Permanently. This isn't something other gods can destroy or fix. No, this is something done personally by me. So once you agree, it can never be reverted. Unless, of course you somehow get another favour from me. This means a few things. One, your lifespan will be halved. You'll die at the same time as your lover, a few hundred trillion more years. Makes it kinda romantic don't you think? Two, you'll never truly be able to regain your power, through conventional means at least. And finally, if either of you ever use your life essence to amplify magic, it takes it from both of you. Simple?"

Mia nodded hastily,"Please...Do it..."

Belle muttered,"Ah...The things young ones do for love...Though I can't say I wouldn't either..."

A white light enveloped Mia and Joel as Belle's figure started to fade,"Take care of that boy lass. He's got a bright future ahead of him, transported to another world, getting away from a Devouring rabbit, becoming a god's apostle, getting an Azure Phoenix to fall for him and to be revived at the age of fourteen? He's definitely a wild card."

Mia looked to Belle, gratitude evident in her eyes,"Thank you..."

"Heh...Don't sweat it kiddo. You better get to taking care of him. He'll be quite weak when he wakes up. Be sure to treasure him well." Belle said as she disappeared from Mia's line of sight.

Mia stared blankly at where Belle once stood, her heart beat quickly, filled to the brim with gratitude and relief.

Beside her, Joel gave a weak groan and Mia immediately turned to Joel in worry.
