Baby Steps

"Alright miss, we're going to take down your level and affinity. Please place your hand on this plate." The attendant tells Vivian.

I placed my hand exactly as the attendant told me to, my excitement was almost at a bubbling point as I stared at the glowing card.

"I wonder...What kind of magic will I be able to use?" I whispered.

"Alright! It is complete. You are currently an E ranked adventurer. You can complete requests to rank up! Thank you for joining us!" The attendant bows before leaving.

I stare at my card and tilt my head,"Is this good?..." I ask myself.

My affinities are: Wind, Water, Dark and Spirit.

My level is...One hundred?

Isn't that like the max level in most games?

I shrug and turn my head to the request board and that's when I realised something.

I didn't know how to use magic!

Walking dejectedly, I decided to ask my mums for some help.

I duck into an alley and chanted [World].

I found myself in some Japanese draining dojo you see in anime some times.

I turn my head to see my mums sparring like professionals, with tons of people staring at them, my jaw drops at the speed of their reflexes and the power packed behind those seemingly normal fists.

My knees tremble as I hear each punch ring out, I found myself sweating more than the two.

Now that I mention it...I look closer.

"They're not even sweating at all!" I stare, immersed in this almost impossible fight.

Suddenly, Belle moves to the side dodging a punch and manages to kick the back of Gracie's knees, causing her to fall forward,"Not bad...But you can do better. Remember back in Emperyus? Now that, I want that spirit."

Gracie smirks,"Getting cocky are we? This is just a warm up round honey. I'll beat you for sure this time!"

Gracie was about to open her mouth when Belle interrupted her,"Let's keep this for later. Vivi's back and she looks like she needs help."

All eyes turn to me as I lower my head from shyness,"Uh...Hi everyone..."

Belle claps loudly,"Alright people, nothing to see here! Have fun training. Sorry we had to cut today short!"

Though there were some cries of resistance, ultimately they were culled.

It seemed no one really dared to make my mums stay.

"C'mon let's get going."

I walk in between my mums, unable to say anything after what I had just witnessed.

It's official, my mums are the most badass people I know.

"So how are you handling everything?" Belle asks me.

"Yeah, tell us about what you've been up to?"

I sheepishly stop in my tracks as they turn back, looking at me,"Ah...Well..." I bowed lowly, and with every ounce of courage in me, I shouted,"Please teach me how to use magic!"
