Before the Harem: Lulu

Lulu twitched her nose as she waited for her young mistress to return. She was a hybrid but was treated like a bunny. She often wasn't allowed to shift into her human form. She was pretty sure that the family had only gotten a hybrid so that they didn't have to deal with the death of a pet.

Lulu was 15 but her owner was 8. It was a young girl by the name of Sophia. Lulu scratched the straw that was laid over the bottom of her pen. It was indoors, that was nice at least. She had been there for four years and found it was terribly boring.

Most of her life was spent in the little two by four pen. A maid of the household kept the pen clean. She was let out when the girl wanted to hold her or play with her.

After Lulu had arrived she often found her bones aching. Hybrids didn't usually spend too long in their animal forms. Their body got used to one form and it felt more natural to take on that one. Now Lulu had gotten used to her rabbit form and it felt strange to be a human.

"Lulu!" Sophia sing songed as she entered the room. She walked over and unlatched the pen.

Lulu quickly hopped out, happy to finally get to stretch her legs. She made her way around the room for the sake of getting to walk. She didn't get to go very far before Sophia  scooped her up. Lulu didn't want to be held and tried to squirm away from the girl.

"Be good. Stop squirming!" Sophia held Lulu tighter. Too tight. That was starting to hurt!
Lulu leaned up and nipped her chin. It wasnt enough to draw blood or really even hurt, just startling the girl so she was dropped.

Sophia shrieked, startled by feeling the rabbits teeth and dropped Lulu. Lulu huffed when she hit the ground, feeling a bit dazed from it before she got up and ran to the other side of the room. Sophia was too young for a pet or at least too immature. No one taught her how to gently handle a small animal. She needed a big dog that could take rough treatment.

Sophia crawled forward to grab Lulu again. "Thats mean! I want to hold you."

Lulu scrambled away again, her paws sliding a bit on the smoothe floor. She was stopped quickly when Sophia grabbed her year and yanked Lulu to her lap.

Lulu growled but it was ignored in favor of petting her. It wasn't even soft petting that Lulu could enjoy. Unfortunately this was a common day for her. Sophia was not gentle and Lulu wasn't allowed to shift or express herself.

Lulu looked up at the maid who opened her pen for the second time that day. She always let Lulu out to run when she was coming to clean her cage.

Lulu hopped out and looked at the shut door before she saw the coast was clear and ran a few laps around the room.

"You're energetic again. I brought you something." The maid produced a small candy from her pocket and offered it to Lulu.

Lulu shifted into her human form and happily accepted the candy. "thank you!" She said. She didn't complain about the food there much. Even in her human form she couldn't digest meat. However she missed simple foods like bread and sweets.

"What happened to your chest?" The maid asked, kneeling down and gently taking Lulu's arm to see her ribs better. Lulu didn't have any clothes. It was meant to encourage her not to shift but she had just stopped caring if people saw her naked. She had quite a few bruises on her left side and arm. They weren't too bad but they were tender.

"Sophia dropped me again." Lulu answered.

"You poor thing." The maid said and gently pulled Lulu into a hug.

"I wish you'd been my owner. You're so nice." Lulu nuzzled against her. "I hate Sophia."

"Try to just... Pretend you like her. Maybe you can fool yourself and enjoy it here a bit more." The maid released Lulu and returned to cleaning her cage.
