Uriel was getting reincarnated.
He'd known it would happen eventually but it was never really a thought on his mind. It wasn't like retirement where you look forward to it, simply the end of this job when the time came.
Kit, however, didn't take the news very well.
"I got the news today that my work is over. Its my time to be reincarnated." Uriel informed Kit.
Almost instantly his expression fell. "No you're not."
Uriel gave Kit a confused look. "Yes, I am. Today is my last day before I'm done."
"No. You- You can't!" Kits voice broke halfway through his words. His ears pressed down and tears filled his eyes. "You're lying."
Uriel sighed. He knew Kit wouldn't like hearing it but he didn't think the reaction would be quite this bad. "Kit..."
"You're lying."
Uriel stepped closer and pulled Kit into a hug. Kit gripped onto his shirt and leaned against him. "Please say you're lying."
"I'm not." Uriel rubbed Kits back, trying his best to soothe him.
Kit broke down in Uriels arms. He clung onto him ever so tightly, let his tears fall freely.
"It hasn't been that long yet. You - You promised you'd teach me what love is! I still don't fully know yet! So you can't, you can't go." Kit tried to bargain with Uriel. Tried to find a reason to make him stay.
"I'm sorry." Uriel kissed Kits forehead.
"You can come to the fields with me! I'll keep you there where the angels can't get you. You can live with me in my garden and - and-"
"No, Kit." Uriel stopped that idea immediately. There was no getting out of this even if he wanted to. "I'm not going to do that."
"You can't leave me!" Kit begged, broken sobs escaping him. "I love you! Please don't."
Unlike Uriel, Puriel had expected this sort of reaction. Uriel may understand Kits trauma better but Amidas understood what it was like to watch your love get reincarnated. When Puriel mentioned this was coming, Amidas knew it wouldn't go well. So the two of them planned a way to help out.
Amidas had come a bit after Kit and lingered outside the office. Only now did he finally peek in and catch Uriels gaze. Once he did he gestured to Kit, offering some help. Uriel nodded.
"I love you too Kit. But it's time to say goodbye." Uriel leaned down and guided him into a gentle kiss before letting go of him.
"I'm not letting go." Kit shook his head. This was the first person to ever truly care about him. The only one to love him.
"Kit, let's go back to the fields." Amidas walked into the room, gently setting a hand on his shoulder.
"No!"
"Okay." Amidas sighed. He didn't want to do this the hard way but it seemed he had no choice. "Let's go."
Amidas grabbed kit around the chest, making sure to have a firm hold on him before pulling him off Uriel.
"No! Let go! I'm not leaving!" Kit fought against Amidas but Amidas was the elder and stronger brother. He was able to drag Kit back to Aliqus fields.
Once they got to their garden, Amidas finally let go of Kit. Kit didn't bother standing on his own, instead falling to his knees. His fighting had been subdued and his sobs turned to silent tears.
"I'm sorry, Kit." Amidas tried but his words weren't getting through. "It'll be okay."
Kit didn't want to hear his apologies or comforts. His shifted into his fox form and took off.
