There was good reason why Malik's master was reported to the authorities, why the promise of silence was broken between hybrid owners. Malik had but put up against a lioness shifter and won. No fox could win that sort of mismatched fight. He must be using some kind of magic or rigging it.
That wasn't to say Malik got away without a scratch. He was, in fact, pretty badly wounded by the end of the fight. He'd been sleeping it off when a certain officer arrived.
Cisco de Montoya and a few others arrested Malik's master and, with the help of sleeping powder given to Cisco by Ryuin, Malik was also taken into new care.
Malik had woken up only a couple minutes ago feeling groggy and confused. He remembered his master talking to a stranger. He'd gotten up to go see if he was needed but... He didn't remember after than.
Malik noticed how heavy his limbs felt then the strange contraption on his face. A muzzle. He'd had one on before. He hated those.
He tried to raise his hand to get it off but found they were bound by some kind of metal, attached with a chain to similar rings around his ankles.
Cisco didn't know if Malik was going to attack people as soon as he woke up. He was being cautious. But to Malik, every ability to defend himself was taken away.
Malik was sitting on a couch in an open room. He could hear multiple voices and sets of footsteps throughout the house. The only person in the room was a bigger man with no expression on his face. Malik hadn't moved enough to get his attention yet. He must still think Malik was sleeping.
Malik looked back at the metal on his hands. He could feel his heart rate begining to spike. He had to get these off. He needed to find his master.
"Hey buddy, you're finally awake." The voice behind him only gave Malik a moments notice before a hand was set on his injured back.
Malik yelped and pulled away, only succeeding in falling on his side on the couch now. That hurt! Malik had gotten a pretty nasty scratch from the lioness the other night. His back was constantly aching from it and he did not want anyone to touch him there.
"Sorry, sorry, it's alright. Calm down." The curly haired man moved in front of Malik know, kneeling down so he wasn't as tall.
Malik didn't understand the words coming out of his mouth. He bared his teeth and growled at the man.
Malik knew he had to look strong. Being bound the way he was, he had no ability to fight. Shifting would break his wrists and he couldn't bite through the muzzle.
Malik didn't look away from the man in front of him though he did hear the sound of two more people entering the room. That was not good. He didn't notice the scent of his master anywhere nearby either.
His breathing came out in heavy pants as Malik tried to get back up so he was at least sitting and not on his side.
"Let me help you." Cisco stood and leaned over Malik, going to grab his shoulders to reposition him.
Malik took the moment opening to kick forward, firmly driving both his heels into Cisco's stomach.
Cisco doubled over and gasped for the air that had been knocked out of him by that hit. Malik, now half off the couch, only gave another threatening growl.
Claudio got up from where he'd been sitting to help Cisco. Maybe this fighting hybrid was feral and needed to be restrained. If nothing else, they could hold his legs down easier with two.
"I'm fine." Cisco got back to his feet. "He's just scared, give him space."
Scared. Malik knew that word. He wasn't scared! Malik's ears pinned back just a bit at those words. He wasn't scared! Prey was scared. He was a fighter, a hunter. He was the scary one!
