"Oriel are you certain you want to do this?" April asked. It was late evening and the sun was low. Oriel had followed her into town for the first time, attempting not to be noticed by the humans.
Tonight was supposedly the night that April would be officially given Zavier. Shortly after would be the wedding making April a Crudel. That's why their plan had to be put into motion tonight.
"I'll be right outside. You know what if they desire proof, you just have to come get me." Oriel promised April.
"Alright. Thank you." April hugged Oriel, her relief far greater than words could express. Oriel returned the hug.
"Be safe." Oriel said before releasing her so she could go talk to her family.
April took a deep breath before walking into her house. She was the last to arrive. Her family was already in the salon entertaining the Crudel family.
Actually it was Mr. Crudel, Zavier, and his younger brother Junior (as they called him). The only open seat in the arrangements was beside Zavier.
April held her pride about her as she took a seat beside Zavier. It wasn't as if she hated the man, she just didn't particularly agree with his way of thinking or like his personality.
"What is this about, father?" She asked calmly though she was sure she already knew.
"We want you here while we finalize the marriage between you and Zavier. Your mother will take care of most of the wedding planning but you're welcome to give input." He answered.
Input on her own wedding, just what she wanted. April could hardly keep that small, calm smile on her face. "Im sorry, but this will not be happening." She said, glancing over at Mr. Crudel then back to her father.
"And why is that?" Mr. Crudel asked. He had his arms crossed and was leaned back, slightly disengaged from the conversation. He was a very stern man that many feared to trifle with. April couldn't say she knew much about him beside rumors.
After his wife died some said he did it but April ignored those rumors. There was no proof.
"I am engaged." April said. Her father narrowed his eyes. She didn't blame him for not believing her. She wasn't engaged after all. However she had found one of her old rings and put it on her ring finger. It was just a silver band, nothing expensive. She showed her father the ring.
"Convenient you're engaged the day we plan to settle this arrangement." Her father said. "Who is the lucky man?"
"Oriel." April answered.
"When do we get to meet him? I never gave my approval for this wedding." He continued.
"Tonight. He's coming over." April said. She'd have to fetch Oriel. She glanced to her side to see Zavier looking very uncomfortable.
"I think I heard the door. I'll be right back." April excused herself to stood up before slipping outside.
"It's time." April said. She was clearly nervous about this. Having a fiance was a good idea to escape the marriage but with a female. With a female MONSTER. Maybe she should have thought this through a little better.
Oriel calmly smiled at April. She wasn't wearing her beast skull for a rare time. "it'll be okay. I promise."
She twisted her spires together then offered them to April as a hand to hold. April accepted the gesture and stepped into the house.
She had only been gone a few minutes but she could hear her father and Mr. Crudel having a slightly heated conversation. April paused in the doorway to the room and cleared her throat to get their attention.
