MissAvarice I dug out an old scene
~~~~~~~~~~
This was a really big city. Chloe tightened the strap on her bag. She had her few belongings stored away in there. She'd left her house to start a new life in Levanthia. It was a nice costal city, not too big nor too small. She'd be able to blend in without worrying about tight politics in the area. And she had a friend to help her.
"Chloe!" A familiar voice called to her.
"Allen?" She looked around until she saw him before running over to give her old friend a hug.
Chloe was 15 and leaving home for the first time. Allen was 24, an assistant to her old master. He'd supported her when she made risky choices in her study and it usually turned out alright.
"You're growing up fast, look at you. You're almost as tall as me already." Allen smiled. He hadnt seen Chloe since she left his master's study three years ago
"The men I hired got you here alright?" Allen checked, looking Chloe over for any marks.
"Sure if you count price gouging as alright." Chloe said.
"I told you to steal extra from your mother in case they did that." Allen sighed. Smugglers tended to hike the prices.
"I did. They nearly doubled the price on me. Knew I was rich or something." Chloe huffed. "didn't sleep a wink on the trip either, didn't trust them."
"Well let's get you home then. I've got a house you can stay in until we get you some papers." Allen patted her head before taking her hand to guide her through the streets towards their temporary home.
"I think I'm developing allergies." Chloe said. "My throat has been hurting these last couple days. Muscles are sore too."
"First the bruises and now allergies, really Chloe are you falling apart?" Allen teased her, setting a plate of dinner and a glass of water in front of her.
"I don't know where they came from! Look at my poor arms!" Chloe held out her arms to show him some bruises along her wrists. "They're on my legs too, I can't figure out where they're coming from."
"Maybe you roll around too much when you sleep. I'll check on you tonight after you're out." Allen offered, taking a seat across from her to eat his dinner.
They both had some kind of soup and a drink. Levanthia foods were very different from the allelic cuisine she was used to but easy ones like this didn't upset her stomach anymore. Not usually at least, she'd noticed she got nauseous more easily than usual.
Don't drink that
Chloe jumped and nearly spilled her drink that she'd been bringing to her lips.
"Are you okay?" Allen asked
"Yeah, I'm fine." Chloe dismissed his concern. He hadn't told her about her last summon before leaving.
Jamie technically belonged to Chloe but she was fussy about helping her. She didn't like Allen and refused to be around them very often. Chloe wouldn't force her to stick around.
Get rid of it when he isn't paying attention.
"Oh, Allen, can you get me an apple? You know how much I love those." Chloe asked.
"Aren't we out?"
"No I bought more in the market when you had me get groceries today." Chloe said.
"Sure, I'll go get you one." Allen said, getting up and going to the kitchen.
