I did this for Nolan and I feel I should explain why Ellie is such a cold bitch.

I probably should have done a college essay instead of this...

Ellie age 6
Ellie watched from the window of her room as Cherry and Nolan played together down at the creek. She wanted to join them.  Ellie walked to her door before carefully opening it so if wouldn't creak before making her way out into the hallway. She didn't make it far before she was stopped.

"Princess Ellie? Why aren't you in bed?" Ellie turned to face Jennel and flashed her a big smile.

"I'm all better now. Maelle said I could go play."

Jennel didn't believe Ellie. "I know it's boring in there princess but you need to rest until you've fully recovered."

"I am fully recovered!" Ellie stomped her foot. She wanted to go play with her siblings.

"Maybe we should ask Maelle then, or go visit the medic." Jennel crossed her arms.

"Fine." Ellie said. She felt well enough to play. She'd be able to pass their inspection. However she soon covered her mouth with her arm and coughed again.

Jennel waited for her to finish before sighing. "Back to your room Ellie."

"I don't want to!" Tears pricked at Ellie's eyes. "I want to go play!"

"You can when you're better."

"I'll never get to play." Ellie angrily returned to her room before collapsing on her bed in tears.

Jennel watched her go and paused at her door. She could hear Ellie crying. Her ears pressed down and she looked away, feeling terrible for the young princess.

She decided to give Ellie some time alone and walked to speak to the healer instead. "Jane?" She asked as she entered. "Are you busy?"

"Not at the moment." The healer shook her head. She was a simple human though she was very good in her field of medicine. She was a very serious woman who rarely left her study unless someone was too sick to come to her and she had to go to them.

"I was just wondering if we could maybe let Ellie go play with her siblings in days when she's feeling better..." Jennel asked.

"No." She was quickly shut down. "it's far too risky."

"You said the disease isn't contagious." Jennel said. "The life she's living is not one meant for a child."

"The life she's living isn't meant for a vampire either. We've gone over this before Jennel." Jane pushed her short hair out of her eyes to give Jennel a cold look. "She can't properly process blood. That means she doesn't have the strength or speed of a vampire. Playing with her siblings would be dangerous. They could hurt her. She's frail as a human. No, she's frailer than a human."

"Kids get hurt. Ellie would rather risk her siblings making a mistake than be locked up forever. Besides, Cherry can control her strength and Nolan has shown few signs of having any strength greater than a humans." Jennel pointed out.

Jane sighed. She'd had this argument with Jennel before. Jennel wanted the child to be a child but Jane wanted her to live. It was the queens commands to be sure that Ellie didn't perish from a disease.

"She can't process blood, Jennel. She's a human with fangs. She has a compromised immune system but most medicines that I would use on humans don't work on vampires! If we want her to live, she cannot leave her room."
