Racism still exists in Delyra and not only because Daniel lives there.
There are supernaturals that feel they are superior to humans because they have magic or are stronger/faster.
There are humans and supernaturals that feel hybrids should be treated like animals since they are genetically half feline/canine/other.
All species are equal under the law but if you decide to run your mouth, there's not much that we can do to force you to stop.
Also even though Daniel is a total jerk to most people I feel like you need to see that he's actually a good friend to his like 2 friends MissAvarice
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"I'm gonna get a refill. Do you want me to ask Dante to top yours off too?" Daniel asked Scilia as he got up. They could wait for Gabe to come around but theyd already split an appetizer and chatted for a while while sipping drinks. It wasn't a date, let's make that clear. Daniel and Scilia just wanted to go out for dinner and a relaxing night. Anyways Daniel was getting up for refills because he wanted to stretch his legs.
Scilia found the plate between them that still had a few bites of food left. At this point she just snacked because it gave her something to do. It didn't really matter to her since her extra fat was stored in her tail. Only Lamia or other reptilian hybrids would ever notice that she actually wasn't "skinny" per say. She wasn't overweight but her human half being so slender gave the impression that she never ate. A lamia had to be quite chunky before it would show on their human half.
"Ow! Watch where you walk!" Scilia snapped when someone stepped on the end of her tail. The tip of it got thin and was very delicate. She couldn't fit her entire tail into the boothe. Really she couldn't be expected to. Her human half was less than a third of her overall size. Lamia were almost always bent or coiled. If they fully extended their tails they could easily pass 10 feet long. If Daniel wanted leg room, some of her goal had to rest beside her booth.
"Keep your tail in check snake!" The man replied. "you almost tripped me."
Scilia flicked her tongue out, catching the scent of this male and able to determine he ass human. "Watch your tone with me, boy." Scilia warned. "I was here first. There are a lot of hybrids here with tails you need to be careful of."
Scilia had self control and limited weapons on her body. Some Lamia had fangs but Scilia was one of them as her species didn't have venom. Aside from a tail strong enough to crush someone who got stuck in her coils, she was simply a human. Step on a Neko's tail and you have claws in your arm without a second thought.
"They should watch themselves. There's no reason for them to get special treatment." The man decided to stay and argue which was starting to draw attention. "animals are lucky they're even allowed in the bar! Maybe I understand the cats, they're hygienic and clean. Disgusting snakes like yourself shouldnt be allowed anywhere near a dining facility."
Dante sighed and excused himself from a conversation he'd been having. He wasn't in the mood to deal with this tonight but he knew that Scilia would start a fight if she'd had too much to drink or you hurt her. She'd been drinking and that man had stepped on her tail. He deserved a solid punch but Dante would rather not break up the fight after it started.
"I got it." Daniel stopped Dante from coming around the bar. "Dont worry."
Daniel knew these types. High and mighty until they met someone stronger than they were. The man bothering scilia wasn't even frightening. He was the average man. He wasn't all that tall, nor did he appear buff. None of that would matter to a vesper anyways.
"Hey! Is there a problem?" Daniel called their attention as he returned to the table to set down their drinks though he didn't take a seat. He had his hood down as was usual at night.
"What the h-ll are you supposed to be? Some kind of fruity bat?" The man curled back his lip in disgust.
Fruity bat? Was that attacking him for looking possibly gay or was he trying to identify the species? Daniel didn't know not did he care that much.
"Me? No, I'm not a hybrid. I'm a demon. A vesper to be specific. Y'know... The mythical demons with unlimited magic. The ones that singlehandedly can destroy entire human cities." Daniel answered him, remaining strangely calm.
Scilia listened to Daniel with the slightest hint of a smile. When someone attacked Daniel he was rash and emotional but when he was defending someone else he was calm and levelheaded. He was such a strange character.
"I don't believe you." The man said.
"No? I've never actually tested the idea that I can destroy a city. Maybe that would be fun to attempt. Why don't I do it here and now." Daniel rubbed his hands together before casting an electric cloak spell to coat only his hands. He watched with amusement as the man's eyes widened, staring at the yellowish sparks crackling from Daniels hands.
"You better get out of here fast if you don't want to be destroyed too." Daniel warned.
The man didn't need to be told twice, fleeing from the tavern to escape doom at the hands of some bat demon.
Daniel scoffed and took his seat across from Scilia. "People like that are always idiots." He said. "Is your tail alright?"
"Yeah. Thanks Daniel. I was trying not to get us kicked out" Scilia smiled at him. She could have a worse temper than Daniel at times like that. "I owe you one."
"You can pay for the next round of drinks and I'll call it even." Daniel replied.
