"did you take the day off work?" Zach asked Arinx when he came home and found her in bed.

Arinx nodded, pulling the blankets up higher around her shoulders. "The fever from this morning still isn't going down."

Arinx hadn't been feeling very well the past few days. She toughed it out with a mask for a little while before she finally called in sick due to a high fever. The only reason she wasn't sleeping on the couch is because Zach couldn't get sick.

Zach gently set a hand on her forehead. "You're burning up."

"No, I'm freezing." Arinx was even shivering. But that was just effects of the fever.

"I'm going to find our thermometer. You may need to go in." Zach stepped away but Arinx caught his hand. Her grasp was weaker than usual and she'd been slower.

"I'm fine. I don't need a doctor. I just need a nap."

Zach sighed. She was always so stubborn about stuff like this. "I have money, Arinx. If it bothers you that much you can pay me back."

"I don't need a doctor." Arinx repeated. "can you just make me some soup? I'll take an hour nap then come eat."

Zach sighed. "Okay."
He'd check on her again in an hour and if she wasn't any better he'd insist on taking her in.

Arinx didn't even make it an hour. Zach paused in the hallway when he heard her odd breathing pattern. She sounded like she was struggling.

"Arinx." Zach entered the room and gently shook her. She was definetly still running a fever, he could feel it on her skin.

Arinx startled and opened her eyes looking up at Zach. She opened her mouth to speak to him but only turned away to cough.

"There's fluid in your lungs." Zach was no doctor but you could hear it in the way she breathed and coughed. "we're going to an urgent care."

Zach pulled the covers off Arinx and she curled in on herself even tighter. It was so cold. She didn't have the strength to fight him when he lifted her up to carry her to the car. Zach laid her in the passenger seat before buckling her in and quickly getting into his side.

Arinx looked out the window then let her eyes fall shut.

Arinx really didn't remember the car ride there or the waiting room. The doctors coming and going was all just a blur of colors. She really had no idea how she got here.

Arinx looked up at the cieling, noticing how uncomfortable the hospital bed was. Apparently she had a very severe respiratory infection that was starting to spread or something, she wasn't paying attention when they were talking about it.

She looked to the IV in her arm. Was that for medication or fluids? Either way it was annoying. They'd managed to get her fever down and she was starting to feel a little better.

"Zach?" Arinx looked over at her partner who was sitting in a chair beside her bed. He'd been reading on his phone and hadn't noticed she woke up from her nap.

"We're not leaving." Zach knew exactly what she was going to say. He did, however, close his phone and set it down.

"I hate the hospital."

"They're going to make you feel better."

Arinx gave a frustrated groan. He wasn't getting it. She hated hospitals. "Please. I want to go home."
