All things in the world are balanced. The good luck of one somewhere is the bad luck of another. If by some miracle a life is saved, another will die a terrible death.
Mavati knew this well. She had returned to her home in the hills of Delyra to meditate. She worried the appearance of these five may upset the balance of the world. She took a deep breath and listened to the balance around her.
In... The crackling of her fire eating at the wood and warming the stone around her.
Out... A trickling of water somewhere in the cave feeding life to anything growing within the cooled stones.
In... The stillness of the cave and the ancient stones.
Out... The simple breeze freshly blowing in from the mouth of the cave.
As a spirit dragon, Mavati was able to tune in with the balance of the universe. She could feel the panic of angels in heaven yet soothed by the amusement of free demons in hell.
But there was a disturbance in the world. It was upset because the balance was off. There were five being who were not meant to be in this world. They destroyed the delicate calculations that kept her world at peace.
She could also feel the strain of the universe struggling to correct this error. There was a growing power that would be released. The world would be able to herself. It had done it before when her scale was tipped.
Mavati only feared what that correction might be. She had only a slim hope that the five would be returned to their own world.
Mavati did not get a moment to determine what the world was doing or how to prevent it. She was pulled from her trance when the balance was suddenly restored. That pent up power released.
Five souls vanished from their world. Not through death but gone entirely. She could only assume they were wherever Cisco and his friends had come from.
Mavati put out her fire and got to her feet, running out of the cave. The moment she was out she shifted into her dragon and flew back to the palace.
Even in her dragon form flying at her highest speed it would take her over an hour to make the trip.
Mavati landed in the courtyard and returned to her human form. She was recognized by the guards due to her frequent presence and allowed into the palace.
