Cherry and Faris

"Come on, this isn't fair!" Cherry shouted at the fleeting set of footsteps in the hall. She had been in here for days with no food, water, or outside contact.

Well no it had been a matter of hours but it felt much longer.

After Faris chose her to be his bride she was escorted to what she could only assume was his room and left there.

"Isn't there supposed to be a feast?" That's what she was told. The twenty selected to come to the palace were offered a nice banquet in thanks then sent home. She was never supposed to get this far in the first place.

Wherever walked by continued on their path without a word to her. What a pain! Cherry fell back onto the bed without a care for how proper it looked before she messed up the blankets.

She'd been in Delyra for almost two years. She was supposed to go home after this. One last easy job before she hunted down her friends.

"Fuuuck." She groaned. Why was everything going wrong for her this week.

Finally the door clicked and opened, the prince was standing in the doorway. "well that's a pleasant sight to see." He said with a smirk.

A pleasant sight? Oh, she was splayed out on his bed wasn't she. Cherry sat up with an annoyed glare in his direction. "Took you long enough to get back."

"I was dining with the rest of the candidates." Faris didn't apologize but he did explain himself.

She wasn't welcome to the feast? What sort of bull... Maybe it was because she was a vampire. Calm down Cherry.
The human family, with plenty of supernatural taint in their blood, that ran Delyra focused on keeping the country equal for all species. They shouldn't be expected to know details of all species.

"What about me? I'm hungry too." Rather thirsty was the term. When was the last time she'd fed?

Four days ago in the tavern. That little allelic waiter had said she could feed a reasonable amount if she paid for it. A reasonable price, actually. Much cheaper than hiring a corner girl to feed off of and left out all the issues of feeding against someone's will.  What was his name again? Gabriel or something along those lines.

"I'll have my servant bring you something to eat soon. Do you have any allergies?"

"Do you think mercenaries have enough variety in their diet to know?" She snarked back earning herself and annoyed look from the stuck up prince that was content slowly walking around to the other side of the room while they spoke.

"Look, we both know I won't be here long since I'm not-" cherry stopped herself. Not a citizen. Which means she couldn't legally be part of the selection. Don't admit to a crime like that, Cherry. You'll loose your head.

"You're not what?"

"I'm not quick to loose my freedom. It's all a mercenary has." Cherry replied.

"You have a lot more than that now, princess." Faris slid onto the bed near Cherry.

He was close. She could hear his heartbeat from this distance. Ah she really was getting hungry. Wait more than 5 days without feeding and your body will do it for you. Much longer than a week and you'll go feral.  She was getting dangerously close to the blood starved stage fledglings go through.

"Will I? I only feel I've lost anything." Her hostility was gone now, replaced with a calm voice. Cherry rarely had to fight for food like this. Mercenary camps were made almost entirely of men. They'd happily feed her for a quick night of pleasure. That's if one of her friends wasn't willing to do it for free. Sometimes they couldn't afford the blood loss and she had to seek out other meals.
