I feel like torturing someone rn. My original intent was to have like EVERY oc regret something.
But then I wrote two instead because they're dramatic.

And because I kinda want to make the second one happen. Enjoy!

Elyse / Sitri (future Elyse is immortal)

"I can't go." Elyse shook her head. "I can't face her."

"If you don't, you'll regret it. I know you will." Sitri said, tightening his grip on her hand slightly when Elyse tried to pull it away.  "She's your sister."

"She's dying!" Elyse's misdirected anger was the only thing keeping her from breaking down again.  "I won't go!"

"Elyse, listen to me!" Sitri said though didn't get a chance to explain himself.

"I said no! Let go of my hand, you're hurting me!"

Sitri immediately let go, he hadn't meant to hurt Elyse. He hadn't realize how tightly he was holding her. "Elyse you need to see Rin again. She needs to see you."

"Why do you hate me?" Elyse held her hand against her chest, gently rubbing her wrist.

"I don't hate you kitten." Sitris words were softer than before. Much less forceful. He didn't hate her. He could never hate her. The idea of Elyse even considering he hated her hurt him.

"You keep forcing me to do these things I don't want."

"I'm trying to protect you from yourself, Elyse. I don't want you to hate yourself forever because you didn't say goodbye to your own sister."

"I can't!" Elyse simply broke at that point. Sitri gently guided Elyse to lean against him while she sobbed.

Sitri was hurt too but he needed to be strong for Elyse. Over the many years that Rin came to visit Sitri had gotten a bit attached to her too. She was a joy to be around. Even as she aged her thrill seeking didn't fade.

But like all mortals she got old. Then she got sick.  The nurse had contacted Elyse to tell her there wasn't much time left. If Elyse wanted to see Rin again, they needed to come today.

Elyse had to face her sister and say goodbye for the last time. Sitri couldn't imagine having to do the same for his own family.

"We can't wait forever." Sitri said after a while when Elyse was starting to calm down.

"I know." Elyse sniffed. "I'm ready."

No she wasn't. She could never be ready. But she needed to go. Sitri was right.

Sitri and Elyse walked into the room where Rin was laying. She had Theo had married and spent their life together. Theo spent nearly every moment of the day at his wife's side but at the moment was sleeping. One of their children had hired a nurse to take care of them.  At the moment, though, they were alone.

"Rin?" Elyse spoke her name quietly as she approached the bed. She reached out and took Rins frail hand in her own. She barely recognized the face of her twin. She was only skin and bones. Her once black hair was all grey now and many of her wrinkles showed years of smiling and fun.

Rin squeezed Elyse's hand every so slightly and opened her eyes a crack. She'd been sleeping until they came in. She slept a lot these days. Rin knew she didn't have much time left.

"Hey. I've missed you." Elyse said, leaning down to embrace her sister.

Sitri could see it in the way Rin moved. He'd seen more death than Elyse. Rin was in her final minutes. She wasn't approaching death. She was dying. Had they taken any longer to come, they would have been too late.
