For the "I defend my abusive ex" club
Also my ENTIRE SECOND SCENE deleted and I had to rewrite it so it's kinda snippy but my patience wore thin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~"do you need me to come with you?" Cherry asked Nolan, taking his hands to make sure he was listening.
Nolan shook his head no. He was fine. He could do this.
"You're going to break up with Raziel."
Nolan nodded this time, taking a deep breath.
"I'll be waiting for you. Be brave." Cherry kissed Nolan's forehead before sending him on his way.
He had been dating Raziel for a couple months now though they'd only been on two or three real dates. Usually they spent time with the other knights and it felt like Nolan was the butt of every joke. But at parties, Raziel paid more attention to women than him. He'd pressured Nolan into sexual favors on two accounts, saying Nolan didn't give him enough attention. That's why he flirted with women. Nolan's draw was his feminine figure after all.
Raziel was hot and cold every step of the way. Nolan spent more time questioning his every decision these days than he ever had before. He had to break up with Raziel for his own good. That's what he and Cherry had decided.
Nolan walked to their meeting spot and was pleasantly surprised to see Raziel standing alone. That joy was quickly replaced by guilt at what he was about to do.
"Are you ready?" Raziel asked. "I set up for us."
Nolan nodded, looking at Raziel's outstretched hand before accepting it. Raziel guided Nolan along to a beautiful area where they could stargaze. They always met at night when they wouldn't be caught but Nolan wasn't scared of the dark.
Nolan clutched the note in his pocket, the only way he could communicate with Raziel. He just had to give it to him and leave. That was the end of it.
But then Raziel laid back on the blanket and guided Nolan to do the same. He let Nolan rest his head on his chest, and gently ran fingers through his hair.
"It's nice when the guys aren't around. I don't have to keep up appearances."
Don't relax. He is good at manipulation. Right? Cherry said that but maybe she was mistaken.
"I know I can be a bit mean when we're with them, but I don't mean it. You know that, right Nol?"
Remember those times he asked you to give him favors? ... Well it wasn't so bad. Nolan had a body that turned Raziel on, it was a good thing. Nolan nodded.
"Our words don't upset you, do they? You're tougher than that."
Raziel wasn't hot and cold. It was a display. The same as Nolan had a prince act when nobles and diplomats came around. A way to protect yourself and your status. It wasn't how he truly felt.
"I think... I may be falling in love with you."
Nolan crumples up the note in his pocket to a tight ball before slipping his hand out and making a heart sign.
Raziel smiled and pulled Nolan and little closer to his side. "Thank you."
"You didn't do it, did you?" Cherry was waiting in the hall when Nolan got back. He took too long to have possibly broken up with Raziel. He'd been out for hours.
Nolan shook his head no. He had been feeling pretty good but Cherry brought him back to earth. She didn't sound very happy.
Cherry pressed on her temples as if to quell a headache and sighed deeply. "Why?"
