'Lex how pleasant of you to join me.' You watched as the bald man slotted himself into the seat opposite you.
'Let me guess... the wife?' He smirked.
'With the amount of assassination attempts you have failed when it comes to me, I thought you would know.' You gave him a tight smile.
'Well I have to make the successful one a surprise don't I?' He chuckled at his own joke.
'When the time comes, I'll be proud of you... brother.' It was your turn to smirk as he winced at that title.
'So how is my other sister doing anyway? She hasn't visited in a while.' He quickly changed the subject.
'She's... great. Lex...' You looked down at your hands, twirling your wedding finger around your hand.
'What?' He snapped after a long silence.
'She's-'
'Don't tell me she's dead.' He whispered coolly.
'No! God no. Even after all of your hitmen.' He sat back at that. So he had a heart.
'Tell me then. What has my sister done this time?'
'Before I tell you... can you answer me a question?'
'Fine.' He looked bored already.
'Why do you try and kill her? You care for her Lex. But you still try.' You needed to understand.
'Because love is weakness, sister. It always has been.' He hissed.
'She's pregnant.' You said and watched as his face went blank.
'She's- she's what?'
'Pregnant.' You repeated.
'You- really?' He looked up at you and his eyes shone different than they did before.
'Yes. You're going to be an uncle.'
He tried to hide it but you saw the small smile.
'Wow.'
'She doesn't know I'm here today. She doesn't know you know. I wanted to tell you. Because Lee deserves a family. The right family. One that treats her right. She doesn't deserve you trying to kill her. You have a life sentence Lex. Love isn't a weakness anymore for you. Don't let it be.'
'I know she does. That's all I've ever wanted for her.' He bit his lip.
'Let her have it. Please. Lena Luthor has every right to happiness. You know that. Deep down you know that.'
'I've always known that.' You saw a tear escape his eye. That was a first.
'Lex. You could be an uncle... if you wanted to. God knows Lena will forgive you. And I will too. One day.'
You stood up and headed for the door.
'(Y/n).' He said.
'Yes?' You turned around.
'She's scared isn't she?' He said softly.
'Terrified.' You answered back, thinking of the many nights you've held her as she rambled about being a bad mother.
'Could you maybe persuade her to see me?' He sounded so vulnerable.
'She swore against it when she realised she was pregnant. I'm sorry.' You watched his face fall.
'Write to her.' You blurted out.
'I'll think about it.' Was the last thing you heard before you closed the door.
When you got home that night, it was to your wife, sitting with her feet up and twirling her hair between her fingers.
'Hey love.' You said gently.
She looked up at you and made grabby hands.
'Hi darling.' She said as you crossed over the living room and gave her a firm kiss before rubbing the skin of her cheek with your thumb.
'I love you.' You whispered.
'I love you too.' She whispered back.
You sat back and carefully lifted her ankle, massaging the slightly swollen flesh there.
'God, this is why I married you.' She groaned out.
'Shut up you.'

It was weeks later when you came home to your wife with a letter in her hands.
'Lee?' You asked, seeing her tear streaked face.
'Whatever you said to Lex worked.' She sniffled.
Oh. So she knew about your not so secret visit.
'Oh honey.' You knelt next to her and took her in your arms.
She sobbed into your shoulder and you took the letter from her hand.
Lena,

My sister you were never a Luthor. You were worth more than our name and more than our family. I'm sorry for treating you the way I did for all these years. I know no amount of apology can be enough, I have made you suffered more than a thousand lifetimes. I'm trying to change Lena. I promise. I'm trying to change for you. I'm trying to change for my unborn nephew or niece. I hope you will allow me to meet them. You have always been the most important thing in my life. I know I haven't treated you like it, but it's true. Your wife is a brilliant person. You are a brilliant person and I bet you make a wonderful family, one I am proud to be part of. You, Lena Luthor, at my hero. Always have been, always will be.

All my love,
Lex.

'I got the seal of approval then.' You said wetly.
She laughed through sniffs and hugged you tighter.
