'Alex I need DEO backup asap. (y/n) pressed her emergency watch.' Kara said, soaring through the sky like lightning.
'Getting a team to you now.' Alex replied.
Kara's heart screeched to a holt. That window was (y/n)'s.
She sped through the broken glass as fast as she could, her heart completely stopping at the sight in front of her.
'Alex. Get to the medbay now. I'll be there in 20 seconds.' Kara's voice had turned to steel, letting Alex know what had happened just by that.
Kara was a bubbly and lovely person, but if her loved ones were in danger, especially you, she could turn into ice.
Kara scooped up your broken body, a sob catching in her throat when she can only hear a weak heartbeat, and took off at lightning speed.
Kara tore through the sky, trying desperately to keep her emotions in check until you had reached safe hands.
She got to the medbay in record time. Alex took one look at you and ordered several surgeons into OR 1.
You were took off Kara and that's when she finally broke down, her knees leaving cracks in the floor as she fell with a thud, one hand clutching her heart and the other covering her mouth, as if it would prevent the noise of her cries.
She stayed there for hours on end, her whole body shutting down as if she had been the one to be shot. It certainly felt like it. Kara ached for you, for your comfort, for your safety, just for your company. Her brain ran a mile a minute, thinking up the worst outcomes and running them until it ended in her depressive decline.
Alex came back to her almost a day later, her scrubs still on.
'And?' Kara asked, her voice choked as her heart pounded painfully.
'It's not looking good Kar.'
Those words were like bullets.
'It's touch and go. If she makes it, the recovery time will be massive. A coma is looking likely, and if she wakes too soon her physio will be a long, tough journey. If she doesn't-'
'Don't fucking talk to me about that.' Kara interrupted, her aching eyes tearing up yet again.
'She'll make it Kara I'm sure. It's a matter of how long it will take.' Alex ripped her scrubs off, settling down next to her terrified sister and taking her into her arms.
'You'll be fine Kara.'
'I won't be without her.'
'Kara.'
'No. If she dies, there's no one else for me.'
'Ka-'
'She's the one.'
'I know.'
'What if I lose her Al?' Kara looks at Alex, her whole being shaking with the weight of it all.
'You won't.'
Alex had never been so unsure of something in her life, but she could tell Kara needed it.
