Eren's POV:

Today was Halloween. Which meant Mystery Inc. was going to Historia's costume party tonight. It was a Saturday so luckily we didn't have to go to school first. We all made the plan to go to Jean's house and trick-or-treat in his neighborhood since he claimed to have the nicest neighborhood. His house is also the closest to Historia's.

"Are you excited for tonight?" My mom asked.

"Not exactly." I crossed my arms as I looked at myself in the mirror. "Why did I have to be Scooby? I look ridiculous."

"Aww, you look adorable." She pinched my cheek and smiled. "You could've said something to them, you know."

"I know." I sighed. "But they all seemed so excited so I just didn't say anything. Plus I'd rather be a character than end up being a ghost like Jean."

"Jean's going to be a ghost?" She laughed.

"Well there weren't any characters left." I shrugged. "I'm Scooby-Doo, Mikasa's Velma, Sasha is Daphne, Armin is Fred, and Connie is Shaggy. Leaving Jean as one of the bad guys the gang busts in the end."

"Poor Jean." She laughed as we both got into the car. I sat in the back and straightened out Scooby's head on top of mine. "Oh, I almost forgot." My mom reached over to the passenger seat and handed me a bag shaped as the Mystery Machine. "I saw this at Target, I thought you'd like it."

"Thanks." She's such a good mom.

We arrived at Jean's house and he wasn't kidding when he said he had the nicest neighborhood. The houses were huge! This must be where all the good candy is. Jean's house was made of brown brick with an even darker shade of brown as the color of the roof. It was definitely taller than my house. My mom parked and we both got out of the car. She insisted on staying with us as we went door to door to be safe. Plus, she wanted to get closer with the parents of her son's friends. We walked up to the entrance and I rang the doorbell. A heavier woman opened the door and she smiled once she looked down to see me in my costume.

"Hi!" She smiled, opening the door for us to come in. "I'm Nancy, nice to meet you." She holds her hand out for my mother to shake, which she does.

"I'm Carla, Eren's mom."

"Jeanie," Mrs. Kirstein calls out. "Eren and his mom are here."

"Mom," he whines, walking towards us without his costume on, "I told you not to call me that."

"Hey Jean, where's your costume?" I ask.

"It's downstairs. Mikasa and Sasha are already here. We've been playing Just Dance Unlimited in the basement. Come on." Am I really about to dance in this Scooby-Doo costume? Yes, yes I am. As we were walking to the door, I was able to look around his house. It had more of a vintage feeling to it. There was a lot of brown and tan with weird decorations. Who has a picture of a map hung up on their wall? I don't understand adults.

"Eren!" Sasha exclaimed with her arms wide open to engulf me in a hug. "Or should I say Scooby." She smirked. She looked really nice as Daphne. Purple seems to fit her more than I thought. Mikasa as Velma was spot on though. She should wear glasses more often, even if they're fake. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think she looks really cute.

"Pick a song, Sasha." Jean said. I walked over to the couch Mikasa was sitting on and took a seat next to her.

"Not dancing?" I laughed.

"Do I look like I dance?"

"No." I shrug. "But it would still be fun. We can dance together."

"Why did you pick that one?" Jean whined.

If I got a dollar for every time Jean has whined since I've known him, I would be rich.

"Because it said potato in the name!" She defended herself. I smile remembering one of the memories I got once I heard her name for the first time. She used to be obsessed with potatoes. 'Mashed Potato Time' by Dee Dee Sharp started to play. The dance was incredibly boring. It was almost as if every time Sasha heard the word 'potato', she had a burst of energy.

"Oh my god, this song stinks!" Jean shouted. Mikasa and I laughed as they continued to bicker. I heard the door open and Connie came running in and jumped on me.

"Like Zoinks, Scoob!" He said in the worst Shaggy impression the world could ever possibly hear. But his eyes shifted to Sasha immediately when he saw her dancing to a song about mashed potatoes. "She looks nice." He awkwardly said. It didn't take a genius to figure out Connie had a crush on Sasha. I don't even understand how you could think of something like that. Girls are gross. Except Mikasa. Every other girl is gross. No offense to Sasha.

The song was finally over and they both turned around. Sasha had the same greeting towards Connie but he squeezed her really tight, then they broke out into their secret handshake. I'd say Connie and Sasha are just as close as me, Mikasa, and Armin are. Poor Jean.

"Connie, you pick a song!" She pushed Jean out of the way of the Xbox Kinect and pulled onto Connie's shirt so he was next to her.

"Hey!" Jean whined. Again. "You know there could be up to 3 players."

"Jean, we've done 10 songs together. Give me a second." She gave him the most sass she was capable of giving, which wasn't too much. So he crossed his arms and pouted as he took a seat next to me.

"I got one!" Connie exclaimed, picking 'Barbra Streisand' by Duck Sauce.

"Good one!" She put her hand out for a high five and he returned the gesture with all his might. The song went on and they both shouted Barbra Streisand every time it came in the song. As they were giving it all they had, Armin quietly walked in.

"Hey, guys," he waved and sat next to Jean. We all greeted him and watched the two finish their duet. Which ended in Sasha taking the win.

"I'm the champion!" She growled with her fists in the air.

"Everyone's here now." I said. "You guys ready?" We all agreed and went back to the living room to see my mom talking to Jean's mom about who knows what. We all grabbed our bags and pails before impatiently walking to the door.

"Hold on," Jean's mom said with her phone already held sideways.

Oh no.

Pictures.

A child's least favorite thing in the world.

That and McDonald's ice cream machine being broken. My mom usually takes me after she drags me out to Kohl's or TJ Maxx for something dumb. That's her way of saying thank you. But half of the time, the thank you is not received with ice cream.

"Get together." My mom said, motioning her hand over for us to move in together.

"Wait, Jeanie, go get your costume!" Jean rolled his eyes and went to grab his forgotten costume that I've been so eager to see. When he came back, it was only a white sheet with eyes cut out. "Perfect." She smiled as she took the first picture.

God, so many pictures. I can feel my face breaking.

"Eren, sit on the ground like a dog." Connie suggested. I heavily sighed and did so. After all, I am Scooby-Doo.

"Okay, now everyone say Scooby Dooby Doo!" Jean's mom shouted.

I will not.

But Sasha, Connie, and Armin most certainly did. A for Effort.

After an excruciating 5 minutes, we all walked out together ready to get as much candy as possible before Historia's party.
