Levi's POV:

Eren and Armin had finally gone home. Hange went back to Krolva to gather the rest of her things and say her goodbyes. Mikasa wasn't going to come out of her room anytime soon. I've been there. I was helping my mom do the dishes. She washed as I dried.

"You know, a lot of things make more sense now." I said.

"Like what?"

"Why you're such a good mom."

"You really think so?" Her voice was shaky. It's almost as if she didn't believe so.

"You probably felt like you screwed up so bad the last time that you've dedicated your life to redeeming yourself." She stayed silent, confirming this theory. "I know you're an Ackerman obviously. Did you keep the last name?

"I don't know your real dad."

"Is it bad to say that that doesn't surprise me?"

"Before I got my memories, I was exactly what I was in our past life. That's how I got pregnant with you and Mikasa."

"So our fake dad was Dita Ness? How was his last name Ackerman too?"

"Why am I not surprised you knew him."

"He was a part of the Survey Corps."

"Well, I told him how special my last name was to me and he agreed that it was cooler than Ness."

"I'm sure Eren had something to do with Mikasa being my sister."

"Did you just randomly come up with Mikasa? Or did some sort of god tell you?"

"More like the devil," she scoffed.

"Kenny."

"Did you ever have a relationship with him?" She handed me another plate to dry.

"Relationship is definitely a word. He tried to kill me a few times. But he taught me everything I knew. When you...died, he was the one that found me. I had no idea he was your brother until he died as well."

"Why does that not surprise me."

"Is he how you got your memories back?"

She nodded. "Kenny and I had a theory that every bloodline was different. The Jaeger's memories came back when Eren turned 8, which was the start of everything for him. The Reiss family was born with it. And the Ackerman's once Kenny shot and killed a couple in a parking garage and never got caught."

"God, I hate him. Have you talked to him?"

"No," she shook her head.

"Was I born when this happened?"

"I was pregnant actually."

"The last time I had seen him was when I was in the hospital. He came to visit you and Mikasa. You know, now that I think of it. This would explain his reaction."

"Reaction?"

"He didn't want to hold you. He specifically said to protect you with everything in my being."

"I'd say you have."

"I don't think so. I failed you once the accident happened."

"No," I shook my head, "you didn't. You immediately took care of me. Went as far as remodeling the damn house just so my ptsd wouldn't get worse. You homeschooled me and worked at the same time. You put me in counseling the second I asked. You've treated all of my friends like your own kids. Eren is like a second son to you. You've been working day and night just to get approved to adopt Hange. You are the best mom in the entire world. I think everyone could agree." She wiped away her tears with her thumb and smiled. I pulled her in for a hug which she quickly returned. "I love you, mom. Don't ever forget that."

"I love you too, sweetheart."
