Chapter 72

Eren's POV:

I went home the next day and told my dad I remember everything. I left out a few details just to be safe. It's one thing coming out to Mikasa because I know she would never judge me, but my parents weren't around. They don't know who I became in the end. On my father's end, he only remembers the outcome of the past's future. What he didn't see was literally everything else.

It had been 3 days since I had last seen Levi. I really wanted to talk to him. I hope he wasn't upset with me. It was just a lot to take in is all. I was back in Mr. Jarnach's class and I couldn't be any less excited. He's starting to get creepy. He's acting like he knows something. He's almost like Mr. Crocker in Fairly Odd Parents. He always stares at me and Mikasa.

"The most evidence on the Beast Titan was that it was actually Eren Jaeger's cousin." Mr. Jarnach said.

"It was his half brother." I interjected. Mikasa immediately turned around nearly begging me to keep my mouth shut. "Zeke Jaeger was his half brother."

"What makes you believe his name is Zeke?" Shit.

"Is that...not in the book?" I panicked. Mikasa smacked her forehead and turned around. Mr. Jarnach shook his head. Think Eren, think. "I went to the library the other day and found a book called 'The Attack of the Titans'. It said it in there."

"Really? Because I read that a dozen times and it's not in there."

God damn it.

My leg started to bounce and my anxiety went up. This is not a very fun thing I've recently developed. I was prepared to go into panic mode.

"Mr. Jarnach." Mikasa called. Thank god, my lord and savior. She had her phone out, "it says here Eren Jaeger's half brother from Marley was the Beast Titan. Their father was the Attack Titan before Eren." She showed him her phone and he was shocked.

"Wow, I stand corrected."

The class ended and I rushed out of there with Mikasa close behind. The last thing I wanted was to be questioned.

"Eren, you need to stay quiet in that class. Do you see the way he looks at us?" Her attitude was off the charts. It was scary even in the body of a 12 year old.

"Yeah, I know." I breathed in and out. That's what Google said to do when you're experiencing anxiety.

"You're okay now." She said more calmly. She knows I haven't been doing so hot these past few days. We started to walk to my locker together. "Do you know where Zeke is?"

"Yeah." I gave a slight laugh and shook my head. "The same way I put you and Levi together. He got adopted by a random family."

"Eren, you did not." She gasped. "Why?"

"Levi."

She shook her head and smiled. "What else did you do in this damn world for him? Come to think of it, why his mom and not my parents?"

I was dreading this question. "Talked to her when I saw her. Shockingly, there wasn't a heaven or hell. We got close." I thought it was interesting how I remembered my time in the afterlife. But not entirely surprised since I created this operation.

"What did you guys talk about?"

"Levi mostly. She told me how she wishes she had a second chance because all she wanted was to be a good mother but she messed it up and would never repeat that mistake if she had the chance. Then I talked to your parents. They said they loved and missed you. I'm sorry...I know you probably wanted your parents instead of Kuchel." I started to feel really bad once I had realized I had taken this from her. A chance to be her with parents again. But I also felt like Mikasa had a happy ending. Levi didn't until I literally ended his life a little early.

"If I'm being honest, I'm okay with it."

"Wait, really?"

"Once she had told me she remembered everything before we did, a lot more made sense. You can tell she's trying her best. Not just for Levi. But me too. Even you. I mean look at how she took care of you the other night. She loves you like you're her own son. All she wants is to be a good mom and lemme tell you, I don't think my real mom or Carla could do what she does."

"Amen to that." Jean came out of nowhere and stood in between us. "It's lunch time, Titan slayers. The Kirsteinator is ready to eat some cafeteria popcorn chicken." Looks like someone's ego is back. I looked at Mikasa and she was trying not to laugh. I raised my eyebrows quickly. Which was my way of saying 'can't believe this is the idiot you picked'. She shrugged.

"I'll meet you guys in a few." They walked off together and I stood by my locker alone. I put my history book in and closed it shut.

"Jaeger." Oh thank god, Levi finally wants to talk. I turned around and spotted his short self.

"Hey." I said normally for once.

"Do me a favor?"

"Of course."

Unexpectedly, he grabbed my shirt and slammed my back into the lockers.

God damn it.

"You ever tell a soul what I told you and you're dead, got it?" I nodded in disappointment. Not sure why he'd ever think I'd do that to him. Not only that, but he's acting even more aggressively than he did when he used to bully me. I guess we're back at that.

"I won't, I promise."

"Yeah, I'm gonna make sure of that." He smiled and nodded. His one hand let go of my shirt and then allowed his fist to collide my face. He slammed me back on the lockers and walked away.

"God damn it." I whispered to myself. I held my hand out and saw the blood drip onto my palm. I ran to the bathroom and plugged both nostrils with toilet paper. It was hard to breathe but what else can I do? I washed my hands and as I was walking out, I bumped into Reiner who was walking in.

"What happened to you?"

"Levi." I groan, sounding nasally as ever. "Got my memories back by the way.

"You bit your hand? How'd you figure out what to do?"

"I went over Levi's the other night and we had a really nice time. Mikasa assumed we were on the right track so she told me that majority of my memories that I didn't have were Levi. So she said it was a good time to get them back."

"How'd you take it?"

"Panic attack."

"Nice." He scoffed. "Explain how Levi did this." He pointed to my beaten face.

"Punched me."

"Yeah, Levi was always scary."

"Tell me about it." I rolled my eyes. "Guess he doesn't want me too close."

"Who knows. He always craved violence." I didn't believe that was true so I nodded.

"I'll see you around, Reiner."

I left the bathroom and went to the cafeteria to meet my friends.

"Eren!" Armin worried. "Did you get a bloody nose?"

"Yeah," I sat down next to Mikasa who was sitting next to Jean. Makes me remember when Jean and I got into a fist fight and Levi came and knocked us out without breaking a sweat. Did it hurt? Yes. Was it super hot? Yes, yes it was.

"How?"

"Just happened randomly." I shrugged.

I looked over at Mikasa and she seemed upset. You can tell she knows.

This is gonna be rough.
