Chapter 168

Eren's POV:

There is one thing about Connie. Everyone knows when he's off. Something must've happened. I'm really hoping it doesn't have to do with Sasha. We've all pretty much picked up on it immediately so our suspicions will be confirmed at his soccer game today.

"Has he talked to you about it?" I asked Jean as we were putting our football gear away.

"No, he's just seemed...sad? I don't know." He shrugged.

"I'm sure he's just having an off week. Maybe something happened at home." Reiner joined in.

We all shrugged at each other, unable to come to a conclusion and started to walk towards the soccer field. Once we got to the bleachers to join our friends, of course Sasha was nowhere to be seen. Connie was benched at the moment so I didn't need to pay full attention to the game. Truthfully, soccer bores me to no end.

"Do you know what his deal has been lately?" I asked Armin.

"Sasha broke up with him," he sighed.

God damn it.

I pulled out my phone and went to the Fight Club group chat, consisting of me, Reiner, and Jean. Cute, I know.

Eren - She broke up with him

Jean - I really can't imagine why

Reiner - You think one of them cheated?

Jean - Oh please

Reiner - Maybe wants to see other people?

Eren - If that's the case, I might have to intervene

"Don't you dare," Mikasa glared.

"Will you stop staring at my fucking texts?" I pulled my phone away from her sight.

Connie ran on the field and he was clearly off his game. He didn't have his number one supporter here to encourage him. This was painful for everyone to watch. He just seemed really dull.

"Go, Connie!" I shouted. Everyone caught on. If Sasha isn't here to support him and scream at him, we will instead. He definitely heard us and gave us a sad smile.

"God, he's broken." Jean sighed.

"Shut up, keep doing that obnoxious whistle thing." I slapped his stomach and he did as I said. 

Luckily for us, we won the game. I was hoping that would help Connie just a little but it seemed to be useless.

"I'm going to talk to him." I said to the group.

"Are you sure?" Armin asked.

"No, Eren." Mikasa demanded.

"Anyway," I just ignored her. Connie came over to us and I immediately pointed at him before he could say a word. "Can we talk?" He nodded hesitantly. "So what happened?" He sighed as we made our way to my car to just sit and talk.

"She just said she wants to see if there's other people out there." He shrugged. "I don't know, I guess it wasn't meant to be."

We both got in my car and I stared at the palm of my hand, noticing I do actually have a scar there.

"It is." I nodded. "I remember...in that other lifetime...everyone was just dying for you two to be together."

"Really?"

"You loved each other but never told each other."

"And then she died, right?"

"Yeah," I sighed. "I need you to do me a favor."

"Yeah?"

"Don't let Sasha go. Don't even for a split second think there's someone else out there for her. I made that mistake with Levi before and I'll never do it again."

"You guys are different though, you guys are like soulmates." I smiled but not because he called us soulmates, but because him and Sasha are soulmates too.

"And you don't think you and Sasha are?"

"I mean, she broke up with me."

"Look at everything I did. That didn't stop me and Levi in the end. Back then, something stopped you and Sasha. Don't let her go."

"But I want her to be happy."

"You know what," I rolled my eyes, "fuck it."

I took the small pocketknife I keep in my car for emergencies and switched the blade open.

"Eren," he panicked, "what are you doing?"

I sliced my hand where the scar was and watched the blood ooze out. I put it in front of his face.

"Now's your moment, Con."

"Do I just...lick it?"

I shrugged. So he hesitantly dipped his tongue out and licked the palm of my hand. He started coughing.

"You'll live."

"God, I'm a cannibal." He winced. But then his eyes shot wide open and his face turned to horror. He was in shock and stayed still but tears ran down his cheeks. "Oh my god." His breath hitched. "And what was the purpose of this?" He whispered and started to shake.

"So you know that losing Sasha is the worst thing you could possibly let happen." He immediately got out of the car and frantically started running. I stuck my head out the window and smiled. "Where are you going?" I shouted.

"To get Sasha back!" He screamed.
