Eren's POV:
School was rough. As the days went on, it got harder to get up each morning and put the effort in to leave my room. But once I got into that building, I put on a happy face and acted like everything was fine. I became one of the Hange's of the world; it's when you're secretly dying inside and no one knows it only because you're strong for everyone else, act like you're okay, and then play it off with humor. Anyone that's asked me about Levi, I just say 'it happens, he'll always have a special place in my heart'. Bullshit, Levi is my heart. Then when anyone asks me about Kuchel, I just tell them that I'm taking it day by day. Football sucked. Coach Shadis expected a lot out of the team just the way he did back with the Survey Corps. I've left practice every day ready to pass out since I've become incredibly unhealthy. The last thing I need is for anyone to notice how much weight I've lost and how dead I look. But as long as I can run fast, no one will think twice I'm sure. Levi hasn't been in school either. It's been a month. As well as being a month since I last saw him and last spoke to him. In the beginning, I constantly asked Mikasa and Hange how he was doing but I figured I had annoyed them with it so I just stopped which has only let me to overthink.
"Eren," Jean called out, running up to me in the hallway, "do you wanna hang later?" Jean and Reiner have asked me nearly every day if I wanted to hang out but I always say no and then spend the rest of the day alone in my room.
"If I'm feeling up for it after practice, I'll let you know."
"I'll take that as a no." He sighed. "Maybe after the game tomorrow, we could go out to eat? You, me and everyone else?"
"Wouldn't that include Levi?"
"I don't see why he'd even show up to the game if he hasn't been in school in a month."
"True. How's your love triangle?" I changed the subject but I was done with talking about myself. Plus, I'd love to know what's happening in Jean's world over here.
"Difficult."
"What happened now?"
"Just being indecisive."
"Guys!" Connie ran up behind us. "I have a soccer game tonight and I really want you to come." Saying no to Jean and Reiner is a lot easier than saying no to Connie. Plus, he seems really excited.
"Of course I'll be there." Jean said without hesitation. But of course I was reluctant to answer.
"Eren, it's okay if you can't. I understand." Connie said it as if it was no big deal but I knew it would be real shitty of me if I didn't go and support my friend.
"I'll be there."
"Really?" Both of them said simultaneously, Connie with excitement and Jean with confusion.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Okay, great! I'll see you later!" He looked over our shoulders and his eyes glowed up like he had just seen a goddess. "Sasha!" He exclaimed with a smile. "Excuse me." He got in the middle of us and pushed in between to get through.
"I'm shocked." Jean said.
"Me too."
"I'm glad you're going. We're all here for you, Eren. I hope you know that."
"I know. Thank you."
He nodded. "I'll see you later at practice."
"See you later, horse face." I smiled, trying to lighten the mood. He smiled back as he walked away. Usually he'd complain but he knows that was my attempt at trying.
