Chapter 98

Eren's POV:

Eren - We need to talk after school

Mikasa - Why? What's wrong?

Eren - We'll talk then

Today was the day. I was going to break up with Mikasa. It's been a week since...Jean. We haven't talked. You'd think he could after I literally came in his mouth. Then again, the aftermath was a bit traumatic for him. Imagine having sex with your ex best friend and then to find out your actual best friend back then was basically murdered because of Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie. Yeah, I'd be freaking out too.

He told me about him and Marco in a little more depth. Surprisingly yes, they were in fact in a secret relationship. He loved Marco as much as he loved Mikasa. But if Marco had never died, he wouldn't of made the effort he had with her.

"I love Mikasa...but I love him too. I didn't...I never thought...that he was something to me even back then. It's not like he has any memories  of this, he knows nothing about any of this. It's just been me and him," Jean said to me.

Where Marco and Jean stand now, they're fuck buddies. Both closeted athletes. Jean, the varsity basketball forward. And Marco, he's just a swimmer. I mean it's still cool but...anyway. Marco is confused by his sexuality, that's shocking to me since he's quite vibrant. Jean apparently always knew. I was his awakening as well in middle school. He knew I was too focused on Levi and I knew he was too focused on Mikasa. We already talked about us. Dating is out of the equation. This is strictly between me and him. Friends with benefits.

I was sitting in Algebra with Armin in front of me. We talk but there's always tension. I'm definitely more nervous to ask him for answers than I was a few months ago. I think he's going to end up being valedictorian when we graduate.

I tapped on his shoulder and he turned around with tired eyes. Something was wrong, he always gets a full 9 hours of sleep every night.

"Armin, are you okay?"

"Yeah," he nodded, "I'm fine." His eyes were puffy. He must've been crying.

"Armin, please."

He sighed, "Annie and I are officially over, that's all." Well that was expected. I didn't exactly see their relationship unfold back then. I mean they seemed somewhat cute but too different. It was like the Golden Retriever boy with the Great Dane girl...if that's a thing.

"What, why?"

"Says she doesn't feel the same anymore."

Jesus Christ, everyone is falling apart. I'll pray extra hard that Sasha and Connie don't run into any trouble. Everyone else is problematic so this is expected. Well, not Armin per say. But he is somehow always involved.

"Damn, I'm sorry Armin. I know you really care about her." I do genuinely feel bad.

"It's okay, it happens. I saw it coming. How are you and Mikasa?" I knew he was going to change the subject.

"I'm going to break up with her today."

That woke him up. "Wait, really?" He played Mikasa's 'yes man' since the beginning. He disagrees, I knew that. But she needed him and he was there for her no matter what.

"Yeah, I had some conversations and I think it's for the best."

"Well, I wish you luck with that." He nodded and turned forward.

Ten minutes went by and I felt my phone rapidly buzz in my pocket. I quietly scoffed to myself and rolled my eyes. I put my phone on the desk without the teacher noticing.
