Chapter 33

Felix nodded, taking another swig of the water, not noticing their strange expressions. He wiped his lips and went on to complain. "I was the one who caused his accident so I paid him a visit to apologize. He was very rude to me at first but I didn't mind because I thought he was mad at me for putting him in a hospital but then, just when I was about to leave, he told me to stop and turn around. I did as this guy said and I even started to beg him to not press charges then guess what, he hugged me! He just hugged me out of the blue! I was completely stunned. Like, why hug me? You don't even know me. But then, an even more shocking thing happened. He started to call my name and cry, telling me that he loves me"

The couple exchanged uneasy but knowing looks.

"Like what the fuck! Who does that?" Felix continued, scrunching his face. "It's so creepy. The last time I saw him was at the police station and I overheard him saying that the only person he loves is some Felix. Surprisingly, I share the same name with that guy but I'm clearly not him so I don't get why he would think I'm him. I told him clearly, that I'm not the one. That he was mistaking me for someone else but no, he refused to listen and kept telling me that I should stop pretending. Tell me, how exactly am I pretending?"

He then faced the couple. "Jeongin told me you three went to school together so you must know him best. Do I perhaps look like that Felix he's talking about?"

Hyunjin didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He wanted to tell Felix that he was the exact same person but stopped himself for he didn't know what kind of reaction Felix would have and if it would trigger his memories or not.

Changbin removed his glasses and cleared his throat then spoke, "You two look alike a lot"

Hyunjin frowned, thinking Changbin shouldn't have said that but Felix actually found it reasonable. His anger dissipated like smoke and he put on a sympathetic expression. "Oh, no wonder..."

He could now understand why Chan went crazy when he saw him. He recalled the way Chan had cried, the soft sniffles from above his head, the warm tears slowly wetting his hair. He raised his hand in a daze and touched the wet spot on his head. His heart went soft and he started to regret the way he acted. Maybe he shouldn't have been so harsh.

Hyunjin glared at Changbin and mouthed the words, "What the hell are you doing?!"

Changbin just smiled and gestured at him to calm down. He looked at Felix and continued to speak, "In fact, you not only look like his Felix face wise. You also speak like him and walk like him. Your mannerisms are almost the same. No, I can say that they're exactly the same. It's not surprising that he acted this way"

Felix doubted this strongly. "Can there be two people in this world that are so alike?"

"Of course" Changbin answered, not caring of it was true or not. "Chris isn't crazy. He just misses his Felix a lot"

And this was true.

Felix's heart fell as he recalled the way he ran away. Maybe he should have stayed and tried to comfort him. The man must have been missing his Felix so much that he lost control when he saw him. "I feel so awful now" he mumbled, looking sad. "I yelled at him and ran away. I shouldn't have done that"

"Hey hey, it wasn't your fault" Hyunjin quickly spoke as he sat beside Felix and swung an arm around his neck, drawing him close. "You didn't know. Anyone in your shoes would have freaked out"

"True" Changbin interjected. "Don't blame yourself. Chris won't blame you too. I'm sure of it"

Felix nodded but he lowered his head, still feeling a bit sad.

"What are you doing?!" Hyunjin mouthed once more to Changbin. "Stop it!"

Changbin shook his head and mouthed back, "We'll discuss this later"

Hyunjin pursed his lips, seeming like he wanted to argue more but Changbin frowned deeply and Hyunjin sighed, reluctantly backing down. If hubby says they will discuss later then later it is. Besides, Changbin must have a good reason. He decided to let it go and play along.

"Hey stop feeling bad" Hyunjin said, shaking Felix a little. "If you want, I can go back with you later to see him again. I bet he won't act so crazy the second time"

Felix's head snapped up immediately. He looked really hopeful. That way he would be able to apologise for running away and maybe he and Chan could become good friends. "You will?"

Hyunjin nodded and Felix broke into a huge smile. "You're the best!". He hugged Hyunjin out of pure happiness and it was so contagious that Hyunjin couldn't help but laugh.

Felix was truly happy. He knew it wasn't his fault in any way but he still felt sad for Chan. The 'I love yous' that Chan kept repeating were reverberating in his head and he knew it wasn't meant for him per se but his heart couldn't help but throb. How nice it would be to be loved so deeply by someone. He felt that that 'Felix' was truly a lucky guy.

He pulled away then asked, "But what happened to that Felix? Why isn't he with Chris right now?"

Hyunjin stiffened but Changbin sighed heavily then went on to explain. "Felix and Chris had a bad fight. Chris did things he wasn't supposed to do and he hurt Felix a lot. Felix couldn't handle it anymore so he took an overdose of diazepam"

Felix gasped and tears filled Hyunjin's eyes as he recalled how he felt when he heard the news. Still, he wondered why Changbin was telling Felix the truth.

"Don't worry, although Felix's life was in extreme danger. Chris took him to one of the best hospitals in time and his stomach was flushed" Changbin continued to explain. "Chris saved Felix's life but Felix's mother made the doctors tell Chris that Felix was dead. Meanwhile, Felix had immediately slipped into a coma and it lasted for three months and when he woke up, he didn't remember Chris. His mum took him abroad and he continued to live there for five years, leaving Chris shattered, thinking he was dead"

Felix gasped. "Does Chris know that he's still alive?"

Changbin shrugged. "I don't know"
