Chapter 136

"So who do you think did it?" Jisung asked Felix. They were in an empty classroom in the deserted building behind their school, discussing what had happened the day before.

"My major suspect is Jeongin," Felix replied. He was standing by the window, watching the trees and grass below sway with the wind. "He's an asshole and he'll do anything in the name of fun."

"But he knows how much you love her," Jisung said. He was sitting on a desk, his legs placed on top of a chair with his laptop on his thighs. "I don't think he'll do that to you."

Felix sighed. "Jeongin cannot be trusted. Remember the time he posted pictures of Lisa shaving her armpits or the time he posted that video of when Rose told us her mum uses a vibrator because her dad cannot satisfy her? He's our friend but he doesn't care which one of us gets hurt by his actions."

Jisung nodded, recalling how devastated and angry Lisa was that day. She was called hairy pits for an entire month. Rose went ballistic. "So he's the top suspect then."

Felix nodded. "Who else can you think of?"

"Rose and Lisa? They didn't like Aera" Jisung replied but Felix shook his head, not agreeing with Jisung.

"They would never do that. They know what it means for a girl to be shamed like that. No matter how much they dislike her, they would never do this kind of thing to her. I trust them. Don't put them on the list."

"Alright," Jisung said, erasing their names from the list. "What about Jennie? That girl's a total bitch you know."

Felix lowered his head, thinking about it for a while. "It could be her although I find it really hard to believe. I was blurred in the video which means whoever did it wanted to harm Aera, not me. Jennie has always professed her love for me so she could have done this to get Aera out of the picture. She has a motive. Put her name after Jeongin's."

Jisung did as he was told. "And Greg? That guy gives me the creeps. I always see him watching you and Aera."

"That fag? Put him on the list." Felix said. "He's also part of the broadcasting club so getting equipment is not a problem. As for motive, I've bullied him a few times so he should hate me."

"I don't think that's his only motive," Jisung said. "You were blurred remember? This was done to separate you and Aera. They want her to break up with you. Maybe even leave the country."

"I won't let her leave me," Felix said, taking his new phone out of his pocket. Her picture was his wallpaper. He stared at her waist-long hair, those baby-blue eyes and that perfect smile. His eyes watered as he recalled the time she slapped him and the depth of anger that came with it.

"She's amazing, Sungie. Like a little ball of sunshine. You know my parents have always been in and out of my life which made me have trust and commitment issues. They can promise to be back today and I'll keep waiting by the door, alone, hoping to see their car and the big smiles on their faces but then I'll receive a text, saying they couldn't make it. I used to think people's words meant nothing and promises could be made but didn't have to be fulfilled. I used to think it wasn't a big deal until she came along and I fell head over heels for her. I used to change girls faster than I changed my underwear and I dumped them without caring about their feelings but Aera changed all that. The first time I set my eyes on her, I knew she was special and she made me want to give her all of me. She's like my rock. The only stable person in my life and-"

"I'm stable too you know," Jisung said, cutting him off. He placed his laptop on the desk beside him and walked towards Felix. "I've been with you since we were kids. I've never left you. Not even once."

"Dude it's different with you," Felix said, slipping his phone back into his pocket. "You're my pillar. My best friend. Yes, you're stable but there are times I still feel lonely. Especially when I'm alone in that big house. But with Aera, I never feel alone. We chat, we Facetime, we make calls, we give each other time. Those are things I can't do with you. She's someone I want to spend the rest of my life with."

Jisung couldn't help but laugh. It all sounded ridiculous. "Dude you're just 16. How can you be thinking of settling down already? You never know what may happen in the future."

"Yeah, I don't." Felix agreed. "But I know for a fact that I want her in that future. I've never felt for anyone what I feel for her Sungie."

"Aren't you being a little delusional here Felix?" Jisung asked, getting angry at all the things Felix was saying. "I get that you love the girl but all this talk about the future, spending the rest of your life with her, man this is too much. Be realistic. You're still in high school. You haven't even entered college, you don't have a job. Dude, there are so many things to think about. Your whole life is ahead of you and you're thinking of a girl you may never get to see again especially after this shit happened."

Felix was completely stunned. He stared at Jisung like he didn't even know him. "W-Why are you talking like this?"

Frustrated, Jisung raked his fingers through his brown hair and took a deep sigh. "What I'm trying to say is that you should be realistic. This life is not some fairy tale. A lot of things are going to happen from now."

"Is wanting her in my future not realistic?" Felix asked, feeling offended. "What is the harm in me saying that I want to be with her forever? So what if we haven't graduated? What if I'm not in college yet? I don't give a fuck about any of that shit. What matters to me is how I feel right here, right now so if I say I want her to be with me forever then I very well mean it. I'm not going to let her suffer through this alone. Isn't this what it means to be in a relationship with someone? To help that person through thick and thin."

"But you guys are just dating. This isn't a marriage!"

"It is still a relationship!" Felix shouted angrily. "It is still a relationship and I will stand by her through it all. I'm not gonna quit and let her suffer alone."
