Chapter 38

"Hello!" Felix said cheerfully and Chan's heart skipped a beat. He felt like his entire body was submerged in warm soothing water and he felt completely at ease. Felix's voice had grown a bit deep. It was smooth and enchanting with a tone of sweetness. It was melodious and Chan felt like he could listen to it all day. His chest grew stuffy and he wanted to cry but he held back. Instead, his eyes were completely red. Chan moved closer to the phone, wanting to drink in every word, every tone.

"What's up Felix? How are you and your brothers?" Changbin asked.

"We're good. JJ and Jeongin are here too" he answered. There was a bit of rustling then Felix spoke again. "Here JJ. Talk to Doc"

"Doc!" JJ shouted over the phone. He sounded very happy and excited.

"Hey JJ! How are you?" Changbin asked.

Chan scrunched up his face a bit. He didn't want to listen to Jeongin's baby speak. But then, he knew he couldn't rush things. Patience was the key.

"Cool!" JJ shouted. "Baby is good too!"

Confused, Changbin asked, "Who's baby?"

Felix's voice then came through. "I told you to stop calling me that"

Chan's face darkened tremendously. He wondered why Jeongin's child would call his Felix 'baby'. Just what was that idiot teaching his child?

"He calls you baby?" Changbin asked, surprised.

"Yeah. It's Jeongin's fault. Anyway, what's up?" Felix asked.

"Oh yeah, Hyunjin and I are coming for dinner tonight" he said. He gazed at Chan's eager face and almost burst out laughing. "We'll also be bringing a guest"

At that, Felix's voice went a bit high, tinged with curiousity. "Really? Who are you bringing?"

"You'll see. Tell everyone to prepare okay" Changbin answered. There would surely be a huge storm in the Park's residence tonight.

"But what's the need to prepare? Is it a very important person? Female or male? What do they like to eat? Tell me so that I'll inform the cook. Are they allergic to anything?"

Chan's heart went soft. Felix didn't know who it was but he cared so much. How did he ever think that such a nice person could deceive Aera and pretend to love him? "Anything. I'll eat anything" he mouthed to Changbin. Hell he'd eat garbage if he had to. As long he gets to see Felix.

"Anything is fine Felix. We'll be there by 6:30" Changbin said.

But Felix had other questions. "Wait wait. What should we wear? Is it a formal dinner? Should we wear suits?"

Changbin couldn't help but laugh. "No need for all that Felix. It's just a casual dinner"

"Got it. 6:30. See you guys then" Felix said and Changbin told him to take care then hung up.

"He sounds divine" Chan said. His eyes were sparkling with so much joy and there was a fat grin on his face. Something Changbin hadn't seen in a long time. "I want to hear his voice again. I really can't wait to see him"

And it was evident for Chan was literally shaking. Positively.

Changbin chuckled. Anything about Felix will surely be divine to Chan. "This is your chance Chris. Don't blow it. Also, Hyunjin will still have 'the talk' with you. I may have given my blessings but you have only half of his. The remaining I guess will be based on your sincerity. If we get even an inkling of you hurting Felix then forget it. We'll never let you into his life again"

Chan knew that Changbin was serious but he wasn't bothered because he was dead serious about being with Felix. And he'll surely show it. After all, there's a saying, 'Actions speak louder than words'.

"So who's this important guest?" Jeongin huffed as he made his way to the dining hall with Felix and JJ.

"He didn't say" Felix mumbled, also wondering who would accompany Changbin and Hyunjin for dinner. In all the years they've spent together, the couple has rarely invited people for dinner and even if they do, they're mostly business associates. "But I bet it's someone we know. Maybe from America. He said it's just a casual dinner. Nothing serious"

Jeongin didn't think so though. Ever since the Park brothers had decided not to interfere with Felix meeting Chan, he hadn't been at ease. Hyunjin and Changbin weren't reliable either for they were the ones who convinced Seonghwa and Jimin not to interfere and leave everything to fate.

He scoffed. What fate? He wanted to curse this so called fate that still made Felix meet Chan. Why let him meet someone who hurt him so badly in the past? What was there to do again? Both of them should just go their separate ways. That would be better.

"Why are you so moody lately?" Felix asked, wondering what made his friend seem so upset. "You've been acting super weird. Is something bothering you?"

Jeongin huffed. "So you're just noticing"

JJ, who was in Felix's arms suddenly spoke up, "Dad said a monster wants to eat baby"

Felix was confused. "A monster wants to what now?"

"Eat baby" JJ answered. "Dad said monster is bad. Don't worry. JJ will protect baby"

Jeongin felt that this son of his was very reliable. "Good JJ. I'll show you the monster whenever we meet it okay. Don't let it go near Felix at all"

JJ nodded firmly and tightly wrapped his short chubby arms around Felix's neck. "I won't let it eat baby

"Felix was completely dumbfounded. "What are you teaching your kid Jeongin? What monster wants to eat me? Are you insane?"

"Shhhh!" Jeongin quickly shushed Felix, looking terrified. "Don't say words like that in front of him. He picks up too quickly and he uses them against me!"

JJ giggled at that and Felix groaned, wondering all sorts of nonsense Jeongin must have already taught JJ.

"And of course there's a monster that wants to eat you!" Jeongin added. "But don't worry. I won't let it. I've already made up a plan"

Felix rolled his eyes. "What are you saying? Is this from one of JJ's favourite cartoons? What monster? And why me?"

Jeongin really didn't know how to explain. Why was Felix asking so many questions anyway? "Don't think much about it. As long as I'm here, you'll be completely safe. I promise"

Felix felt that something was wrong with Jeongin upstairs so he didn't say any more. Besides, he couldn't make head or tail of the conversation. Instead, he concentrated on teasing JJ and making him laugh until they got to the dining hall.
