Mrs Lee stared wide-eyed at Felix, like she couldn't believe her own son was talking to her in such a way. She felt as if she didn't know him anymore. "So this is what they've taught you. To talk back and shout at your mother"

"Don't even put that on them" he replied. "You know that I've always been like this. This is not the first time we're arguing"

Mrs Lee recalled the time Felix was hospitalised after Chan played his videos during the award event. The way Felix talked back to her was similar to now. She closed her eyes as the tears flowed down her cheeks. So some things never change about a person. Some things will always remain the same. Like Felix's core.

And Felix's core still loves Chan. If not, he won't remember Chan and forget Aera.

Still, it was something Mrs Lee could never accept. She wiped her tears and pushed back her hair, giving Felix a stern look. "I don't know how you and Chan met again or what is going on between you two but it's going to stop today. I won't let you be with that man. You're going back to the US with me tomorrow"

"What?" Hyunjin gasped. "That's not possible. You can't just make him go back with you"

"This is a matter between me and my son, Hyunjin" she snapped. "It'll be best if you do not interfere"

Hyunjin wanted to argue but his eyes met Changbin's and Changbin shook his head, indicating that he shouldn't say anything so he didn't.

Felix knew his mother was serious but the fact that she thought she could make him leave with her was funny. He couldn't help but laugh. "And you think that I'll leave with you? Mum, I'm not your tiny Felix that used to stick to you all the time. I'm not the Felix that used to yearn for you to come back. I'm different now and five years without you has taught me so many things. You can't control me anymore. I won't go with you"

Although the situation was serious, Seonghwa and Jimin looked at each other and smiled. It seemed that all the love and sincerity they poured into Felix wasn't in vain. Felix now knew to think for himself.

"Felix is not a child anymore Auntie," Jimin said. "He can make his own decisions. He can be with who he wants to be and we'll all support him. We know Chan did things he shouldn't have done but he regrets it now and he's making up for it. His feelings for Felix are sincere. Besides, none of us has the right to choose Felix's partner for him. If he wants Chan then so be it. You won't interfere. After all, you and uncle are not without fault" He gave her a pointed look as he said the last sentence.

Mrs Lee scoffed. "You think I care about what you say? Felix is my son. I'm the one who brought him to your house and I can very well take him away from here"

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" Felix asked. He didn't know why his mum was adamant about taking him away. Well, he won't leave. Not after he promised Chan to stay until the end of the winter holiday. "I'm not going with you. I'm staying here with everyone. With Chan. And if that bothers you so much then you can just leave. You've done it before so doing it a second time shouldn't be hard."

Mrs Lee closed her eyes and shut her ears with her hands as she groaned. "I'm so sick of hearing his name. Chan Chan Chan Chan just stop it!" She faced Felix and the rage he saw in her eyes made him take a few steps back. Mrs Lee would accept anything but never Chan in their lives. "You want answers, don't you, Felix? You want to know what happened to your friends, to your father, to you. Well, I'll tell you"

Dr Sarias stepped up. "But Mrs Lee, his health-"

"I don't care!" she shouted. "I don't care since he doesn't care too. His health is the reason I stayed away from him for such a long time, fearing that if I appear before him, it'll be worse but now that he has shown me that he doesn't appreciate my efforts, why should I care? I sacrificed a lot for him. I deprived myself of his company and his love all because I wanted him to be better but he sees me as the enemy and takes Chan as his lover!"

Felix sighed. "Mum you're taking this the wrong way. I was just angry that you left for so long without an explanation. You know I love you"

"No you don't!" she cried. "You don't! You don't! You don't love me! All you love is that evil man!"

"Mum!"

"What?! I said it! He's evil! That man is evil! He's the devil himself!" She moved closer to Felix and held his arms. "That man is the reason our family is apart. He's the reason I left you, Felix. He's the reason our lives are like this. That man ruined everything! He ruined all of us!"

The feeling of dread loomed over Felix like a dark cloud. "What are you saying? Chan will never harm me or anyone I love"

Mrs Lee hugged her son tight as she cried. "You don't know him well enough. That man ruined our family Felix. He put your father in prison and forced us out of the country. He took away everything and tarnished our reputation. The majority of our assets have been taken over by him Felix. That man ruined us. He ruined our lives"

Felix felt like a bucket of ice was dumped over his head, the cold seeping into his bones. He looked down at his mother, stunned. "W-What..."

Anger rushed into Changbin's heart as he heard her twist the past. "With all due respect Mrs Lee, if you're going to tell Felix what happened, don't just tell him what Chan did to him. Tell him what you and your husband did to Chan too"
