Chan was laying down, deep in thought. His eyes were closed, his left hand over his chest but there was a slight frown on his face. As if he was disturbed by something.
Earlier out of excitement, he didn't think clearly but now that he was alone and a slave to his thoughts, he could vividly remember seeing Felix when he was about to fall down the stairs. He could remember holding Felix in his arms, protecting him from the fall.
Where was that Felix now? Where did he go? Could he have imagined the whole thing? But... it felt so real. The body was warm and lithe. He could remember the texture of the hair. Soft and silky. And then the waist, so thin that it fit perfectly in the curve of his arm. He had held the person tightly before he passed out.
Now that he thought of it, he recalled that he was accidentally hit by the door and he heard a familiar voice ask him if he was okay. The person touched him, he lost his footing and fell backwards, dragging the person along with him.
Chan suddenly sat up. His eyes widened as realisation dawned on him. He had actually seen and held Felix! He gazed at his left hand. Then the touch, could it have been real too?
But that Felix was very different. That Felix had brown hair. But it was still the same beautiful face. The same round brown eyes, the same cute freckles, the same small lips.
But the hair... Chan had never imagined Felix's hair changing colour. Not even in his dreams.
So how?
There was a saying that when you're about to die, you see the one thing you desire the most or dream about flash before your eyes. Chan's greatest desire was to be with Felix again. Then he thought, was his want for Felix so strong that he imagined even imagined hearing his voice and holding him? Was that even possible or could it be that Felix was still...
No!
He quickly cut off that thought. It was impossible. He didn't even dare to think of it. He didn't want to give himself false hope. If not, if it turned out to be fake, he wouldn't be able to take it.
What if it was true though? What if Felix was...
Chan groaned and layed back on his right side. It wasn't true. It couldn't be. He had watched them bury Felix with his own eyes. Chan has always believed in what he could see. He had seen Felix die but now, he had seen Felix alive. He had heard his voice. He had even touched him.
Was his mind playing tricks on him? He really couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't.
But it felt so real. Even the touch felt real. Chan wanted to believe it and he also didn't. He felt so torn.
A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts and he groaned. "Come in"
Felix pushed open the door and poked his head in first, feeling nervous. He saw that Chan was laying down with his back to the door and his front facing the window. Felix let out a relieved sigh and walked inside, carrying a small basket containing some fruits and a bowl of hot chicken soup.
He had made sure that the soup was cooked with medicinal herbs that would nourish the body and make Chan feel better again. It was his way of saying thank you for saving him.
Though Jeongin had told him not to bother and just leave Chan alone, he couldn't help it. Well first, he felt it wasn't proper to cause an accident and disappear, leaving the victim to nurse himself back to health alone. And second, he just wanted to see Chan again.
"H-Hi" he said when he was a bit close to the bed. "How are you feeling?"
Chan grunted in acknowledgement but made no move to turn and see his visitor. He didn't care. He was even annoyed that this person had interrupted his thoughts.
Felix saw that Chan didn't want to talk and he felt a bit disappointed. He placed the small basket on the table next to the bed. "I brought you some herbal chicken soup. Please, take it while it's still hot. You'll feel a lot better and it'll help you regain your strength"
Chan wanted to roll his eyes. He didn't lack any strength. The person should just go already. He grunted again but didn't move.
Felix sighed. He didn't know that Chan would be so difficult to talk to. And he didn't even get to see his face...
But it didn't matter. There would be more chances. He decided to just do what brought him here in the first place. "I'm sorry for hitting you with the door" he said sheepishly. "I didn't know you were right outside. I should have been more careful. And thank you for protecting me that day. If you didn't hold me like that, I would have been seriously injured and bedridden right now. So, thank you and get well soon. I'll be leaving now"
Then he turned to leave.
Chan on the other hand felt relieved. At least, he would be alone so he could think. But then, the content of the message suddenly hit his brain.
The person who caused the accident!
Felix's face from that moment appeared in his head and he shot up the bed like a rocket. "Wait!"
Chan stumbled down, his bare feet touching the cold tiles but he didn't care. His eyes were wide and his breathing fast. Due to how fast he moved, he felt dizzy and his body swayed downwards so he had to place a hand on the bed to steady himself.
Felix, who had his hand on the door knob, paused. He felt a sudden chilling gaze on his back and it was so frightening that he was even afraid to move. He started to sweat. Did Chan want to make him pay for hitting him? But Jeongin told him that Chan's secretary said it was all fine. There would be no charges.
So, did Chan change his mind?
"Turn around" Chan commanded.
His voice was strong and carried a strong tone of dominance. It made a person want to obey immediately. But inside, he was shaking. His heart was pounding, his insides were in knots, his nerves were wound tight and if one looked closely, he was trembling badly.
Chan didn't know what to expect. He was vibrating with both fear and excitement. He could tell. It was the same hair. Brown, chin length and glossy. The person was dressed in a black denim pants and a knee length beige coat so he couldn't tell when it came to the figure but Chan knew that it was the same person he had protected.
Now, it was either Felix or not.
Chan felt that if it wasn't, then he wouldn't be too disappointed. He wasn't putting much hope to begin with but if it was, Chan didn't know what he would do or what he would say. He couldn't even stand still and he felt like his heart was about to burst out of his chest. "I said, turn around"
