Chapter 34

"Poor Chris..." Felix mumbled. "He must have suffered a lot these five years..." Felix now realised why Chan had cried and hugged him like that. He felt even worse.

Hyunjin's brow twitched. 'Poor Chris?' he thought, giving Felix a complicated look. 'The person you should pity is yourself!'

But Felix felt an even stronger urge to go back to Chan.

Changbin smiled. Surely, one can't completely run away from their own fate. No matter how carefully they planned or how hard they tried to keep them away from each other, Felix and Chan still met. Without their knowledge. Felix had gone to see Chan on his own and none of them knew about it.

The secret they had successfully kept from Chan for five years was now exposed by Felix himself. All that was left was for Felix to regain his memories. If at all he would. Dissociative amnesia could cause permanent memory loss of a specific time or person. Changbin felt it would be better if Felix doesn't remember at all. That way, Chan could start all over with Felix and they would have a happy ending.

Changbin's phone rang, cutting off his thoughts. He frowned when he saw the caller ID but still picked up. "What is it?"

Mingi's panicked voice came through. "Changbin, you and Hyunjin should hurry to the cemetery now!"

"Why?" he asked, confused.

"Chris has really gone crazy! He's wants to exhume Felix's corpse!"

"Fuck" Changbin cursed and he stood up immediately. He knew exactly what Chan was thinking. "We're on our way"

He hung up and took off his lab coat. "Babe, something came up. We have to go now. It's urgent" he said to Hyunjin then faced Felix. "Take a taxi back home okay. We'll talk more later"

"What's wrong?" Hyunjin asked, worried. He stood up and took his jacket. "Who was that? What did he say?"

Felix followed suit as Changbin would have to lock his office when they leave.

Changbin discreetly winked at Hyunjin then said, "It's work related. An emergency"

Hyunjin understood that Changbin didn't want to say it in front of Felix so he nodded and didn't say anymore. The couple prepared quickly, bid goodbye to Felix then set off for the cemetery.

"Hey TaeTae, stop drinking so much" Huening Kai said, grabbing the bottle from his friend who was already wasted. "You're going to harm your body"

Taehyun's eyes were puffy and red due to excessive crying. He had a headache and worse, he was drunk. His body felt heavy but he still lifted his arm with much difficulty and reached for the bottle in Huening Kai's hand.

His best friend shifted the bottle out of his reach then stood up from the bar stool, already fed up with Taehyun's behaviour. "Come, stand up. We're leaving"

"Noooooo" Taehyun slurred as he pressed his face on the cool counter. "I don wanna gooooo. I-I-" then he went quiet.

Heuning Kai sighed and lifted Taehyun up. "We're going home Taehyun. Whether you like it or not"

"H-He does not love me" Taehyun whispered as he rested half his weight on Huening Kai. "We broke- w-we broke up". He started to cry again.

"Shhh, I know I know" Huening Kai said as they left the bar and walked towards the parking lot. "Stop crying already"

Beomgyu watched all this with a satisfied smile on his face, oblivious to the new changes in Chan. He was quite happy that he had achieved his goal. Anonymously sending Taehyun all information about Lee Felix was worth it. Now, Taehyun had destroyed the relationship himself.

He stuffed his phone into his pocket and walked the opposite way, feeling extremely happy. Finally, after so many months of waiting, he could go back to Chan's life. Back to fame and riches. He didn't care that Chan still loved Felix as long as he gets to stay with Chan and enjoy the life of luxury.

"Sir I beg you to stop. Please stop. You're disturbing the spirit's rest. You're going to incur his wrath. Please, please stop before it's too late" the gatekeeper of the cemetery begged. He was on his knees, pleading with Chan to stop the digging of Felix's resting place.

"I will only incur his wrath if there's a body inside" Chan said. "Don't waste your time. I won't stop until I prove to you all that I'm not crazy"

Changbin and Hyunjin silently stood by his side, watching the entire process. The had also tried to discourage Chan but Chan refused to listen to anyone. Mingi had already lost all hope in Chan's sanity and stayed far away from everything. He didn't want to upset Felix's spirit. If Chan wanted to die, then he could go ahead. Mingi was already tired.

"Chris, you said Felix denied knowing you. How are you sure he's the one then?" Hyunjin asked. He wanted to know Chan's innermost thoughts.

"He's the one" Chan replied with a strong tone of certainty. "I just know it. I could feel it. I saw and held Felix in my arms this afternoon". Chan raised his hands and a gentle but somewhat goofy smile appeared on his face as he recalled holding Felix's small hands in his. So cute...

"He still feels the same. He still smells the same. Everything about him is the same except his hair. But I love that too"

Now the couple were certain that Chan had indeed met Felix.

"If you know that he's the one, then why are you making people dig his grave?" Changbin asked.

Chan slowly let down his hands then faced his friends with a smile. "To show you all that I'm not insane. If I recall correctly, the first time we met after you guys came back to Korea, Felix was with you guys and the Park brothers. If indeed Felix's body isn't inside his coffin, you two have a lot of explaining to do"

The couple suddenly felt cold. Chan was clearly smiling but the intent behind the smile couldn't be missed. Changbin quickly shielded Hyunjin with his body and faced Chan head on. "We'll see"

2 long hours later, after the sun had already set and the wind was getting chilly, the diggers finally hit the surface of a coffin with their shovels.

Chan, who had been standing erect throughout the process, finally moved. He was restless. "Hurry up. Take it out"

The men did as they were ordered. This time, Mingi moved closer, wanting to know if he had to take Chan to a mental hospital.

The coffin was lifted by the three hefty men and brought out of the rectangular shaped hole. "Quickly, open it" Chan ordered.

He was standing at the very front. Outside, he looked as calm as a monk meditating but inside, his emotions were like a raging whirlpool. His heart was pounding painfully and he was sweating despite the wind. He knew the person he saw today was Felix. He knew it in his heart but Felix rejected him. Felix denied ever knowing him. Chan couldn't help but doubt a little.

Doubt, no matter how tiny, was still doubt and to clear it, Chan decided to do this. Everyone gathered around the coffin, including the gatekeeper, watching with bated breath. Was there really a body inside or not? Was Christopher Bang crazy or not? One of the diggers pulled on the latch and the coffin creaked open.
