Chan wasn't surprised by Jeongin's behaviour. In fact, he was expecting it. He just wondered how Jeongin grew the courage to speak to him like that. "Changbin invited me over for dinner" he explained, looking civil. He didn't want to create a scene in front of Felix. He was sure that the first impression he gave Felix was a bad one and he didn't want the second to be worse. "I'm here to apologise to Felix"
Hearing Chan mention his name, the Park brothers hopes were flushed down the drain. It was evident. Chan already knew Felix was alive. If not, he would have been shocked to see Felix before him now.
Felix felt a bit queasy in the stomach. "Me?" he asked, slightly surprised. Wasn't he the one planning to apologise to Chan?
"We don't a give a fuck about your stupid apology" Jeongin sneered. "You have no right to be here or see Felix. Get the fuck out!"
"Jeongin!" Changbin snapped, standing up. "Chan is our guest and don't forget, business partner. Mind your manners"
"Fuck manners!" Jeongin shouted. "How can you even do this? You know what he did to Felix and yet you allow him to come here? Just what the fuck is wrong with you guys? What happened to protecting Felix? Or are you all tired of taking care of him already? Well that's not a fucking problem because Felix is my friend and I'll take care of him!"
He turned to Felix. "Go pack your bags. We're leaving"
Felix couldn't help but laugh. Why was Jeongin making a big deal out of it? Changbin or Hyunjin must have told Jeongin what went down when he payed Chan a visit. That must be why Jeongin was angry. He sighed and told JJ to go to Jimin then kept him in his feet.
JJ dwadled his way to Jimin then Felix faced Jeongin. "Dude there's no need to get so worked up" he said, patting Jeongin on the shoulder. "What happened between him and I was a misunderstanding. Don't be so angry"
Jeongin was thoroughly confused. Misunderstanding??? How could what happened five years ago be a misunderstanding? He was sure Felix didn't remember so what was he talking about?
Well, Jeongin didn't get the chance to ask for Chan side stepped him and came face to face with Felix. He still remembered to keep a reasonable distance between them so as not to freak Felix out.
"I'm sorry for my behaviour that day" Chan said, gazing right into Felix's glassy brown eyes which were so shiny and beautiful that he could not take his eyes away. "You came to apologise but I mistook you for someone else and did some inappropriate things. I'm really sorry for that"
Jeongin's ears twitched and rose up at 'inappropriate things'. He badly wanted to ask, what things? Just what did Chan do?
Felix couldn't restrain his smile. Chan's voice was deep and gentle, making him feel warm. And the way Chan stared into his eyes made him feel shy. He could feel the heat creeping up his ears. "It's okay" he said, clearing his throat. "I understand"
"No hard feelings?" Chan asked and Felix shook his head. "None at all"
Chan smiled and extended his hand. "My name is Christopher Bang Chan. But please, call me Chan"
Chan...
It was as if that name triggered something and Felix's sight suddenly went white. He saw himself standing in what looked like a closet. A janitor's closet to be exact. He had his arms looped around a person's neck. A man's neck. He could tell from the feel of it. He pressed his body closer to the man and whispered, 'Chan'
"Felix?"
The image left as fast as it came, leaving Felix with a slight headache. He blinked the haziness away then shook Chan's outstretched hand. "Lee Felix"
Immediately both hands touched, there was an electrifying feeling. It was sweet and tingly. The kind of feeling you get when you finally come in contact with the person that's meant for you. With the person you know is the one.
Chan's palm was big and it covered Felix's entire own. It was warm, the fingers were long and slender, giving Chan a firm grasp and it made Felix feel safe. Chan loved the feel of Felix's small hand in his. He missed it and he never wanted to let go but he knew he had to so after holding the hand a little bit longer than necessary, Chan let go.
But instead of going back, he moved closer and placed his hand on Felix's lower back. "How about I help you to your seat?" he asked but it sounded more like a suggestion that left no room for denial. "Will you like to sit next to me?"
Even with the sweater, Felix could feel Chan's palm emitting heat to his lower back and he liked it. His cheeks seemed like they were painted in a light pink hue as he nodded. "Sure. Lead the way"
And the two walked to the table under everyone's shocked gazes. They watched as Chan pulled out a chair for Felix and helped him sit then pulled the chair right next to Felix and sat there. He didn't spare anyone a single glance as he struck up a conversation with Felix.
"By the way, the chicken soup was amazing" Chan said to Felix with a smile. "Made me feel better in an instant. Did you make it yourself?"
Felix suddenly wished he did. He shook his head, looking sheepish. "Not really. I just found the recipe and asked the cook to make it for you"
"Well it was delicious" Chan said, wanting Felix to know that he appreciated the effort. "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have gotten the chance to taste something so good. Thank you"
"But I didn't do anything" Felix said. In fact he still felt very bad for hitting Chan with the door. "If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have been in the hospital in the first place"
Chan understood how Felix felt instantly so he placed his hand on Felix's shoulder and rubbed it reassuringly. "Like you said that day, it was an accident. We can't control it so forget about it okay. I'm here now aren't I?"
At that, Felix let go of his worries and smiled. "You're right. I'm glad that you're okay"
