It's been a couple of days now and the invites to the ball have been flooding in. Poppy, Natty, and Imelda all have dates now as well. With only a few more days for the ball I'm still anxiously waiting for Ominis to ask me to accompany him. I would be lying to myself if I were to say I had all the patience in the world.

Today Ominis was acting a bit odd during our classes and he had hardly even spoke. I wanted to ask him what was eating his mind but thought it was best not to press since it most likely had to do with the letter he had received the other night from his family. I figured I could give him some comfort once we met outside by our place after transfiguration class like always.

I waited and waited but Ominis never appeared. I wrapped the scarf around my face a bit tighter feeling the cool air kiss and burn my cheeks. It wasn't like Ominis not to meet up here, but maybe he was behind on his work I thought to myself. I looked at the trees noticing the leaves have finally started to fall from their branches. I walked down the path towards Hogsmede might as well go to town to get some ingredients.

I heard the loud crunch of leaves under my feet and my hands began to get a pink color around the tips of my fingers. I sighed wishing I had brought some gloves with me, or to have Ominis's hand interlinked with mine for warmth. I was brought out of my thoughts when I sensed a familiar eerie presence. I turned to my side to notice someone wearing the same black cloak I noticed at Hogsmede the other time. My heart rate picked up and my hands started shaking from fear. I couldn't take my eyes off them even noticing their menacing smile under the darkness of the shadow from the hood. They waved at me and it became harder to breathe. Who was this person and what did they want from me. I quickened my pace until I crashed into a hard object almost falling back.

I let out a loud gasp from the shock and scare."woah there where's the fire HuffPuff?" I heard a chuckle. I opened my eyes to see Damien pulling me up by my arm.

"Damien" I gasped as I looked to the side and noticed the figure was now gone. "I'm sorry I should have paid more attention" I blushed as he brought me back up straight.

"It's okay I should have been looking out as well" he shrugged rubbing the back of his neck.

"Is that Poe?" I asked noticing the familiar book in his hands.

"Umm yeah sorry I was reading while I was walking I didn't even notice you there" he chuckled shyly. I've never seen Damien act so nervously he was always confident and flirty like Sebastian.

"Well I'll leave you be then" I was about to walk away before he stood in front of me.

"Hey I'm having a bit of trouble with my herbology paper. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind looking over it later?" He asked.

"Sure Damien maybe during dinner I could take a quick glance at it" I smiled.

"If it wouldn't be such a bother"

"Never, you can ask me for help anytime" I patted his back as I started to take my leave again.

"Penelope. I was also wondering if maybe you would like to be my date for the ball!" He asked shyly. "I know you probably already have a date I mean who would be stupid enough not to ask you?" I could think of one person I thought to myself. "But I promise I'd make it a night to remember if you'd give me the honor.."

"Damien that's very sweet of you, but if it was another circumstance I would have absolutely said yes to you. I'm sorry"

"Don't worry about it Penelope. Just the thought that maybe in another time you would have said yes to me is enough" he smiled and squeezed my hand.

"I'll see you during dinner then?" I tilted my head to reassure him it was okay to still come to me.

"See you at dinner my little badger" he blew a kiss and started walking away. I sighed thinking if maybe I should have said yes to him. I looked back as I saw the Slytherin boy walk elegantly with a big yellow scarf. What a goofball I giggled.

Once it was dinner time I walked towards Sebastian noticing Ominis was missing. Wonder where he could be?

"Hey Penelope!" He yelled.

"Hey Sebastian where's Ominis?" I saw a grin form on his face. "What's with that look?"

"Oh nothing just a secret" he smiled.

"So do you have a date yet?" I asked as I placed food on my plate.

"Of course just asked the girl a couple minutes ago and she said yes. I mean who wouldn't with my charming good looks" he raised an eyebrow at me. "Sorry to have to turn you down princess"

I laughed "didn't even think about it Prince Charming"

"That's right I think you are waiting for a certain Slytherin to ask. Am I wrong?" I blushed hardly as he chuckled. I playfully through a grape at him but he managed to catch it in his mouth.

"Guess who snagged a date" Garreth plopped down next to me.

"Let me guess the frog you had in your pants first year" Sebastian teased.

"No Sebastian it was me" we laughed knowing how oblivious cute Garreth was.

I looked behind me noticing Damien walking towards us with his paper in his hand. I smiled and waved at him and he returned the same gesture. Behind him I noticed the familiar blonde walk in the doors with a bouquet of sunflowers and white roses. My mouth opened and I blushed covering my mouth. Sebastian grin only widened. I started giggling and laughing at how he brought my favorite flowers.

The sweet moment was short lived once I saw him turn and talk to another girl. My heart sank to the pit of my stomach and my smile quickly turned into a frown. Damien now stood in front of me confused to the sudden change in emotion. Sebastian's mouth gaped open and turned towards me. I saw the Burnett girl jump up and hug Ominis screaming yes.

"Penelope I... I didn't know I swear to Merlin. I thought they were meant for you" I saw his hand reach out for me but before he could grab me I picked up my things and ran out the door with tears threatening to slip out of my grasp.

"Penelope wait!" Damien yelled behind me. I didn't stop I didn't want to stop I wanted to be alone. I wasn't watching were I was going yet again and tripped. I grabbed my ankle and winced in pain the reality finally setting in. He never wanted to ask me to the ball but another girl that's why he took so long. Tears ran down my cheeks like waterfalls. Damien then sat on the floor saying nothing.

I turned my head from him so he couldn't see my face. "We need to get you to the hospital wing Penelope., your ankle looks swollen" I didn't want to I just wanted to disappear I looked like such an idiot. I then felt arms under my knees and on my lower back.

"Damien just leave me alone!" I yelled at him even though I didn't mean to.

"Sure I'll leave you alone once you are at the Hospital wing" he said sternly. I tried to wiggle out of his grasp but he only tightened the embrace holding me against his chest. "You have eight minute to let it all out before we make it to nurse Blainey. If by then your still crying then I'll lie and say it's from the pain." He looked down towards me gently and with caring eyes. "Don't worry no one will see you. I'll make sure if it" I bursted out in tears against his chest as he carried me.
