I was happy to head back to school. At least at Hogwarts I was able to roam around freely. Not only that but I'd get to see Emelisse once more and not have to worry about her safety. The only thing I was dreading was that this was my last year here. After that I am to marry Daria and live the rest of my life trapped in a cage where I could never break free from.

As I walked into the Slytherin common room Sebastian waved at me.

"Hey there champ, are you going to be joining the quidditch team again?"

"Of course, sallow hope you will too"

"Thank you, Jasper. Hope to see you out there then" I smiled towards him and made my way up the stairs. I wasn't watching where I was going and bumped into Ominis.

"Ohh, I'm sorry Ominis, I didn't see you there"

"I see your just as reckless as your sister"

"Well I was in a hurry looking for Emelisse. Mother wanted me to keep an eye on her so she doesn't get covered in mud" I chuckled.

"Your sister is a lively one that's for sure. Complete opposite of the twins" he grumbled.

"Have you happened to see her" I smacked my face at the words that came out of my mouth.

"Hmm I don't think so. I don't even think I'm able to"

"I'm sorry Ominis"

"It's alright, last time I heard her she wouldn't stop pestering me about trying her mud pies by the garden"

"Ohh Emelisse" I pinched my nose knowing exactly how angry my mother will be. I watched as Ominis grabbed onto the side of the bench and stood there. I grabbed his hand and led him to the front so he could sit.

"Umm thank you Keiren" he let out nervously. I really hated when his family would take away his wand.

"Hey Ominis. I know my sister isn't well the most proper, but try to take it easy on her. Our family tends to be harsher on her and she tends to feel left out at times. Her intention isn't to annoy you or make you angry. She does truly care about you and really wants to be your friend. If you give her the chance you will see how kind hearted and caring she truly is. She is definitely a wonderful person and she is very loyal. Emelisse truly has a kind soul." I patted his back once more before I took my leave.

"Kieren" I turned around to see Ominis fidgeting with his hands. "I don't hate her. I do get annoyed at times but I don't hate her. She well she... she's very kind to me and I truly care about her" he turned his head towards my direction. I smiled

"I know Ominis"

I snapped back to reality and shook my head.
"I'm sorry Gaunt" he made an annoyed face.

"I thought I was the blind one" he muttered.

"Sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going" I picked up the pile of parchment he carried. Why in Merlin's name did this boy have so much for?.

"Thank you, I'm sorry I am just a bit exhausted from the trip" he smiled.

"It's alright." I patted his shoulder and walked away.

"Oh and Jasper. Thank you for helping me at the Masquerade. I really appreciate your help"

"Of course" as much as I wanted to curse him out I bit my tongue. Emelisse forgave him and I was trying to see why. He didn't seem to act like Marvolo did. He still acts the same way he did when we were kids. Was he really not a bad person after all?

As I stepped inside my room I noticed someone standing by my bed.

"Professor Black?" I slowly closed my door behind e.

"Welcome back Jason" he seemed nervous.

"It's Jasper" I said annoyed about how he never said my name right.

"Yeah whatever" he flopped his hand up in the air. As I walked further in my room I noticed he was holding Amelia's necklace. I rushed towards him and ripped it out of his hands.

"Why are you snooping through my things! What are you playing at!!!" I glared at him angry that he had even touched it. I watched as he took a couple steps back with his hands in the air in surrender. "What do you want with it!!" I yelled.

"It belonged to my daughter" he let his arms fall to his sides and he turned away from me.

"Your Amelia's father?" I questioned.

"Yes, I'm surprised my brother didn't mention that to you" he took a seat on the side of my bed. I watched him pull a letter out of his coat. "She sent this to me before she died. She wanted me to hand it to you once you were of age." He placed the letter on my bed and sighed.
"I'm sorry about everything James"

"Jasper"

"Whatever" he waved his hand at me.

"What are you sorry about?" I moved closer to the bed and leaned against the bed frame.

"Amelia had asked me to take you in. She didn't want anyone in our family finding out about your real identity. I was hesitant at first and I didn't want anything to do with you. I was already a horrible father for ignoring her all this time and not defending her against my family. At her funeral I saw you. You were nothing but a small child and my conscience wouldn't just let you walk away. However once I was about to reach you my brother had already beat me to it. Of course I was against what he had done since it's not what my daughter wanted. When I told him I would take you in since Amelia had legally gotten custody of you and I technically was your grandfather. He threatened me and my wife. I'm sorry I wasn't strong for either one of you" I was shocked to see Professor Black so vulnerable considering how harsh he acted in front of others. "I wish I would have taken you in and protect you the way Amelia wanted. She probably died thinking I hated her." I heard him sniffle and I felt bad for him.

"She didn't hate you Professor Black. She loved you and cared about you deeply. She always talked about how kind of a father you were. You never went to seek her out in her home and force her to marry someone even thought your family did. She knew you were the one sending all those flowers and countless doctors to save her life. She loved you very much" I smiled towards him. "don't worry about me I can manage myself."

"Amelia would be proud to see what a wonderful man you are becoming" he stood up from the bed and patted my head.

"Amelia would be happy to see that you care about her so much. She would have been happy to hear you changed your mind and wanted to help me for the right reasons"

"Thank you Jack"

"It's Jasper"

"Whatever" we both chuckled.

"Professor Black wait" I watched as he turned around confused.

"Here take this" I pulled out some of my memories and placed them in a vile. I handed it out to him but he looked worried.

"I can't take those" he shook his head.

"Please, I want you to see the way she spoke about you. I want you to see that she was happy until the end" I pushed the vile into his hands and clamped his hands around it. He smiled and he had a couple tears escape.

"If you ever need me. You know where to find me Kieren"

"It's Jas" I smiled that he had used my real name. As he walked out I grabbed the letter and wondered what it would have felt like to have been raised by him. He was cold and mean on the outside but I can see now he has a very caring heart.
