Jasper's POV
It had been a couple days after the ball. Everything was going great with Daria. We were getting to know each other a bit more. The one thing that annoyed me was her constant pushing about blood status.
A few days ago I had bumped into Wendy. I was trying to tune the piano, but to no avail. Luckily for me the music store heiress herself came to my rescue. We played a couple songs together and it was the most fun I had in a while.
She still worried about that day she found me and kept apologizing. I knew it was just her kind hearted nature, so I kept reassuring her that I was in fact alright.
Wendy had mentioned to me that the music room needed a good clean and some repairs. I offered my help and now every two days we meet in the choir room. We fixed the floor to the railing, adjusting instruments, cleaning. It was a fun routine and a good distraction from all the stress. Her muffins were just an added bonus.
The night of the ball she had heard our conversation. She apologized for listening in and apologized for avoiding Penelope. She did it because she didn't know how to comfort her, not because she was upset. It made me laugh that she was so sweet. Penelope had told me she told Sebastian, so I placed my trust in Wendy and told her everything. Wendy said what we went through is awful and she tries her best to make us feel better.
——3 days later——
"Hey Jaspy could you pass me toast?" Sebastian asked as his hand stretched towards mine.
I chuckled grabbing a piece and biting into it before I handed it to him. He groaned and ripped the part I had bitten off.
"Jasper... that's not what proper gentleman would do" Daria whispered in my ear as she continued to eat her breakfast. I nodded and gave a soft smile.
"Good morning everyone" Wendy said in a joyful tone. I can't believe she was this awake and joyful in the morning. She stopped on my other side and handed me a small box with a muffin inside. "Oh! Before I forget. When you stop by today could you bring a handkerchief that you no longer use?" She asked with a sparkle in her eye.
It made me smile and laugh at how cute she was when it came to fixing the music room. It reminded me of Emelisse when she was younger and tried to fix the garden. "Of course Wendy" I said placing my hand gently above her shoulder. "Thank you again for the muffin, but if I keep this up I won't be any better than Emelisse and her frogs" I smiled at her as I shook my head. She let out a soft giggle before walking away.
I returned my face with a smile still on my face as I moved a spoon of eggs into my mouth. I looked up when I chewed only to see Sebastian giving me a scowl. "What? Do I have something on my face?" I asked not looking away from him.
"You've been awfully close to that girl lately Jasper" Daria said just above a whisper.
"Where do you two sneak off anyway?" Sebastian asked as he leaned forward on the table.
"Is this some sort of interrogation" I laughed as I finished my food. "We are fixing the choir room." I said as simply as I possibly could.
"Alone?" Daria said turning her head to me with a tilt. "It's inappropriate for you to be locked in a room with a lady" she huffed placing her hands on her lap. "Especially with a -"
"Don't" I said softly. I would never allow her to finish those types of sentences around my friends. No matter how much I loved her, I would not stand for her to disrespect my friends.
I got up and began to walk away.
"Where are you going?" She said getting up herself. I turned signaling her to stop.
