A Brother's Love

Ominis POV

I groaned as I lifted my body off the ground. The cold mud covered my body. My hand gripped my head from the side. What happened? As I stood up pain seeped through my whole body. I was trying to recollect everything but I couldn't remember.

When I started walking forward I fell on my hands in knees. Dammit! I remembered I was fighting someone named the crow, but why? My head pounded as I tried to gather my thoughts. I felt a familiar ribbon tied around my wrist. Penelope!

I got up and tried to move as fast as I could towards the fight. Please be okay darling I'm coming.

Jaspers POV

I grabbed Penelope and moved her behind me as I started casting spells on the dragon. "Take this it should help" I handed her a bottle of wiggenweld potion.

"Do you have another one?"

"No it's the only one I got" I chuckled. "I wasn't expecting a whole dragon to appear at the dance. I brought it cause Arthur told me I might need one if Garreth offers me his potions"

I chuckled at the thought. "I can't take this then Jasper. What if you need it?"

"Don't worry about me, you need it"

"But.."

"Take it Penelope" I heard her open the vile and chug it. I felt her out a hand on my shoulder as she walked in front of me.

"I got it from here. Thank you for keeping him at bay" I lowered my wand and smiled. Penelope ran head on towards the dragon and casted spell after spell. She jumped and flipped through the air. She fought very elegantly. With the string of magic coming out her wand it almost looked as if she was dancing.

I was proud to see how well she was able to control her ancient magic. My eyes widened when I saw her fly back and crash into a tree.

"Penelope!!!" I yelled as I ran towards her. I had caught the dragons attention and he blasted fire around them. I stepped back and heard screams "no no no" I shook my head. I kept having flashbacks to the house fire and I couldn't pull myself out of it. All the pain and suffering our family had endured that night. The hand that held my wand shook aggressively.

I watched as the dragon stepped closer to Penelope. This dragon wasn't really after the school it was after her. I took in a deep breath. I had to save her. I looked down and noticed my hand had a slight hint of blue, but quickly vanished. "What in Merlin's name?" I whispered.

"Aguamenti" I cleared enough fire for me to get through. I ran to Penelope. "Bombarda Maxima!" I saw as the dragon roared and stepped back.
I shook her trying to get her up. "Penelope please get up we have to go!" Nothing. "Penelope please wake up!" Still nothing so I picked her up over my shoulder and ran out of the ring of fire. I set her down gently behind a bush.

"Stupefy!" I yelled. The dragon shook its head and let out a huge roar that cause a strong wind to move me back a couple of steps. "You can't have her!"

"Ventus!!!" I watched as the strong gust of wind pushed it back a couple of yards. I looked back to see Penelope still had her eyes closed. My goal was to try to get the dragon as far away as possible. I ran and kept shooting spell after spell. I dodge attacks and used the surroundings to my advantage.

My chest rose and fell quickly as I panted behind a wall. I heard the dragon creep closer and I closed my eyes. As soon as I felt it grow near I turned and ran out as fast as possible watching as a trail of fire burned behind me.

I tripped and rolled on the ground. My wand was a couple of feet in front of me. Shit! I thought to myself. As I ran to get my wand the dragon smacked me with its tail and I flew against the fountain.

I sat up gasping for air as my head was submerged in the water. I coughed and groaned trying to get out of the fountain. A mix of water and blood dripped from my clothes. My body was covered in scratches, blood, scraps and burns. I didn't mind as long as my sister was safe.

I noticed it was approaching her again. "Don't touch her!!!" I blasted spells not caring how much pain I felt as my hand lifted and flung forward releasing them. The dragon now stood in front of me and was about to release another attack, but I noticed a familiar blue ribbon around its neck and it tightened tugging him back.

I looked over to see Penelope glaring at it. "Do not hurt my friend!" She yelled. Another blast of lightning came crashing down on its back as it screeched in pain.

"Jasper your hurt" I flinched as she squeezed my arm.

"I'm alright"

"No you are not. Please get back to the castle"

"What if you need me?"

"I can't need you if you are dead Jasper now move!"

"No! I'm staying"

"Jasper! You just met me why are you trying to save me!"

"Because your Arthur's sister! He's a really good friend of mine and I'd be a failure if I can't help him" she frowned and nodded. I snuck closer towards the school. I watched as she once again began to fight the dragon with everything she had.

What am I doing? Why am I standing down? She is my sister and I am her older brother. My duty is to protect her! I stopped walking and turned around.

As I stood next to her I yelled out spells causing her to turn her head towards me. "Jasper don't!"

"No all this time you fought alone. All the times you saved everyone. You carry so much burden and responsibility.Let me help you carry some of it"

"Jasper..." we turned back and worked together. We each ran down opposite sides confusing the dragon were to lay his attention on. Once we reached the back of it we both released the same spell "Bombarda!!!" We yelled in unison.

"Look who's the warrior now" she teased.

"I try. I'm probably going to get detention for life"

"Yeah but he's your uncle. Maybe he can let you off easily" we laughed as we started doing the same thing again. This time making our way to the front.

"You're really good at this? I wouldn't be shocked if you'd been in a similar situation before"

"Ehhh maybe" she laughed.

We kept attacking from different sides and angles. I noticed Penelope run to the front and the dragons belly glow. I didn't think as I reached her and pushed her out of the way before the fire burned her.

"Jasper!!!" Was all I heard.
