I was not happy about this whole transferring thing. I was going to be an assistant for some other office director. Fury would still be my main boss, but I would help this new guy James Barnes with different tasks. It was my first day up here and I was led through the building by a 6ft tall guard. He opened a door and I was taken aback by the man sitting in the chair on the phone. He glanced up before he sighed "Yeah, I get it. I'll get it done whenever it gets done". He hung up and turned his attention to me "Clinton Barton?". I nodded despite my urge to tell him not to call me Clinton. That was way too uncomfortable. Nobody called me that anymore. He nodded "Alright. I heard you were also trained in combat correct?". I nodded again and he hummed "Alright. You're my right hand man in everything. Did Director Fury explain everything you would be doing here?". I shook my head and he motioned for me to sit in from of him. The door closed as I sat. He handed me a file "Read over this. It details everything we do here. You will mostly be accompanying me to meetings and gatherings, filling out paperwork, and occasionally going on assignments". I nodded as I flipped it open. I glanced up as I felt his eyes on me "You don't talk much do you?" I shrugged. I wasn't sure how to reply to that "Mute?" I shook my head "No, just don't feel like saying yes and no over and over. Would rather nod". He hummed and leaned forward "What about the hearing?".

My eyes met his for the first time I could see the surprise on his face. I shook my head "That doesn't help me assist you Mr Barnes". He hummed before I looked back at the file "Helps me know who you are. I wasn't told very much about you. I was told basically everything about my last assistant". I glanced at him again "That's because your last assistant was Tony Stark. Everyone knows basically everything about him. He is very open". He nodded "Friend of yours?" I shrugged. Tony was a complicated subject. We had a fall out a while back about his girlfriend at the time. She was a piece of work. She played her part well and managed to drug me. I woke up throwing up the next morning and I had no idea what she had done to me. He didn't believe me. We were roommates, so I moved out and got a small apartment. It was my piece of heaven, but I had never felt so alone and betrayed. "I know him, but we're not friends" he hummed "He is still working here in the lab. This isn't going to get in the way of your work is it?". I shook my head "No, there's no hard feelings between us. I won't pick a fight with him either". He nodded and picked up a different file on his desk "You're dismissed to your office until I need you. I'll send someone or I will call". I nodded and left his office. I looked around until I found my office. It was different than my other one and I knew I didn't like the change at all. 

I huffed before finishing up with the reading. I was then left with not much to do. I now knew why Tony could no do this one easily. He could not stay sitting still for long periods of time and probabaly drove everyone crazy. I hadn't thought about him in so long. I worked so hard to forget about everything. He said a lot of hurtful things before I left and I could never bring myself to even look at a picture of him again. I wondered what would happen now that we were going to be working together. I wasn't sure why fury would send me here knwoing Tony was here. He transfered Tony to keep us separated because of all the tension that was created. Nat had tried to help me get through this and get us to be on speaking terms again, but it always ended in snappy comments or an argument. She was still friends with both of us since neither of us would ever make her choose. I glanced up when there was a knock on the door. Mr Barnes came in and waved for me to follow him. I did and he led me to a lab. I forced away the hesitation I was feeling as we stepping inside. I spotted that stupid grin from a mile away. He looked over and his smile fell as we made eye contact. I broke eye contact and looked at the other brunette. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of seeing the nervousness in my gaze. He could always see through me so well. "Dr Banner, Tony, this is my new assistant Clint Barton. I believe you two know each other" I glanced at Tony as he nodded to this. He looked like he had just seen a ghost. "Anything that needs immediate attention will go to him" Tony nodded again as he stared at me. I broke the eye contact to look to Mr Barnes. He nodded for me to be dismissed and I left the lab quickly.
