Professor Oak stood behind a table on which lay four Poké Balls neatly lined up in a row as his gaze swept over Sage, Leaf, Blue and Red who were all watching the table with wide eyes and excitement brimming in their hearts.
Today each of you will choose your first Pokémon as these partners will accompany you on your journey, share in your challenges and become your closest friends" Professor oak said.
One by one, he tapped each Poké Ball, releasing the Pokémon inside as the first to appear was a small orange lizard with a flickering flame on its tail—Charmander as Sage's heart leaped at the sight of the fiery little creature.
The next Pokémon was a green, turquoise-skinned Pokémon with red eyes and a bulb on its back—Bulbasaur who blinked up at them with a calm, friendly expression.
Then came a small blue turtle with a hard shell—Squirtle who crossed its stubby arms and looked up with a playful grin.
Finally the last Pokemon was a Yellow mouse that appeared to produce electricity while rubbing its cheeks.
Go on, choose your partner" Professor oak said.
Sage didn't hesitate as she had always been fascinated by lizards and reptile and Charmander's bright flame seemed to call to her as stepped forward and gently picked up Charmander Poké Ball.
Blue smirked and rolled his eyes.
Guess I'll pick the obvious choice." Blue said as he scooped up Squirtle's Poké Ball as the little turtle gave Sage and Charmander a challenging grin.
Leaf moved next as her eyes were lighting up with excitement as she selected Bulbasaur.
You and I are going to have best friends, Bulbasaur," Leaf said as she was smiling as her new partner happily nuzzled her hand.
Lastly, Red stepped forward and quietly choose Pikachu as the yellow mouse Pokémon hopped into Red's arms and gave a small cheer as it nestled comfortably against him.
Professor Oak clapped his hands as he was looking proud.
Now, before you head out, I have a few more things for you all." Professor Oak said as he reached into a drawer and pulled out four small devices.
These are Rotom Phones—a special invention from myself and several other professors. They contain the Pokédex feature and have a map, a call feature and much more so think of it as your personal guide to the world" Professor oak said.
He handed each of them a Rotom Phone, each customized in different colors: Sage's was a bright green, Leaf's was forest-themed with earthy patterns, Blue's was an aqua shade and Red's was a warm orange.
Oak then handed each of them five empty Poké Balls.
You'll need these for capturing Pokémon and remember your journey will be full of challenges but also great rewards so treat your Pokémon with respect and they'll be your greatest allies" Professor oak said.
Sage looked down at her Charmander and smiled as she was feeling ready to begin her adventure as the whole world was out there waiting for her and Charmander to explore.
